Sponsor Programs Giving Over Info To Acacia
 

Sorry to link another board, but I wanted to post this here as it definitely affects US ALL. Greenguy and Jim im not spamming GFY but trying to raise awareness to this as it is going on right now.

Some of you have maybe even gotten the same letter, but it seems Acacia is getting our personal info from affiliate programs and contacting us for royalties.

The companies that settle are providing this info.

Fletch, just a reminder: unless they are able to state that you are in fact in violation of their patents, all you need to do is reply saying "After a review of our websites, I was unable to located material on my websites that are covered by your patents, therefore I decline to license to you at this time. If you feel that this is not the case, please contact me personally with examples (url and material covered) so that I can address this matter as soon as possible."

Basically they are sending out scare tactic letters, without any backing material.

Just got my letter.. and I run a linklist and a handful of free sites (with NO movies)

What if you host say a dozen sponsor provided clips. Just delete them remove the pages and then tell them I can't find anything? I just received my letter today. If you haven't check out their website and read all their licenses and faqs you should. It makes for some serious reading. Basically states that even if you don't sign an agreement and shut down they still can come after you for past royalties earned.
