Question about affiliate banners and providing psd files?
When making layered PSD files available to affiliates is it better to put them up zipped or as PSD files?
My browser Safari displays PSD files just like it does a JPG file but wasn't sure how things work in the Windows world. |
off hand I'd say I dont remember..post a link
:D |
Here is an example

I got a box asking me if I wanted to open up Photoshop. So I'm guessing Firefox/Windows doesn't know how to display it.
|
Hmmm…
So what happens if you go to this page with multiple PSD files on it? http://foxy-angel.com/webmasters/banners/psd.php |
I got a 'There has been a problem' message on the first page so I assume you've taken it down
|
On the multiple page I get the dreaded red x - a few of them :(

Now I get the file download window 'do you want to open or save this file' and it opened it in pictureit for some unknown reason. But at least it worked :)
|
Well I don't want anyone to have any problems.
Maybe I should zip them up then so that you can just click on the link to download the zip file. Silly Windows computers. :D |
How many affiliates would know what to do with a PSD file, even assuming they could figure out how to download it? Wouldn't it be easier just to say 'PSD files available on request' or something?
|
I use PSD files when they are available and I'm seeing more and more affiliates making them available. I like to put the model that I'm using into the banners.
I get enough questions mailed to me already without adding PSD requests to the list. I think I'm going to put a place holder jpeg with a link to the psd file zipped as this should work with everyone's browser. |
Ok, how does this work?
http://foxy-angel.com/webmasters/banners/psd.php I made jpeg placeholders and linked them to the PSD file. |
It works for me. Of course as I don't know how to work with PSD files I'm probably not the best person to be answering but at least I can download them LOL
|
The psd.php loads up fine for me in Windows/IE.
The raw PSD asks if I'd like to download. |

That should make everyone happy |
Works fine for me now, but they are all stacked directly on top of each other like trannies in heat. No space between them, that is.
|
Cleo adds some
s to the page. (Best I can tell trannies too close to each other causes cat fights) |
Are those banners on top new? They're really nice. I just grabbed some yesterday for my tranny page and I didn't download those ones, but I can't figure out why I wouldn't have.
|
Yeah I just put up a new batch of banners that Urb did. He was nice enough to also make the PSD files available.
Not to turn this thread into a spam post I am going to send out a newsletter later today after I also put up some new content for her affiliates to use announcing her new banners and content but first I'm going to drag my fat ass to the gym. |
You're better off to offer them as zip files so the majority of your people can download them w/out errors. |thumb
|
I think like Shannon :) offer them as .zip
This makes it also easier if you want to download more than one file at once. |
Zip files it is then :D
