Was I Wrong to Reject this Site for Stolen Content?
 

I rejected this site:
www.post-a-babe.com
giving the reason that we don't link to stolen content. I got an email back from the webmaster, rather huffy, saying "I would like to know where this "stolen" content is at on my site so I can get rid of it ASAP." Well, from reading his copyright disclaimer page:

I'd have to guess that ALL his content is stolen. Am I looking at it wrong?

Seems obviously to me that it is ALL stolen content.

It's nothing but stolen content.
They're the same as ********* and they are quite big and buy ads on a lot wm boards/resource sites, but that doesn't make them legit. Their copyright is the same though.

I thought their "copyright notice" was hilarious (but not funny). Basically they say that everything is stolen, and if you (the copyright owner) want it removed, you have to comply with their appeal process or not even be considered. In a sidenote they also say it's probably not worth the bother. Crooks!

Hmmm... the plot thickens. It seems the domain has disappeared; I was doing some research, clicked the link in the first post in this thread, and was informed that "post-a-babe.com could not be found". Go figure, huh?

Check it now... even more interesting.

I would have rejected him twice. Once for using stolen content. Once for being an asshole.

yes, that was my site (http://www.post-a-babe.com) that you guys are discussing.

I started the site for my own personal use to see how to build a fully indexed, searchable database using postgresql and images from usenet. After figuring out how to do it and writing several scripts in perl and php, I started to see dollar signs, instead of thinking with my head. I should have known better than to think I could get away with something like that. I did manage to write some nice scripts.

Anyway, the site was just made public less than a week ago, and until today I have not seen much traffic. I read the rejection notice that the admin from www.bluewavelinks.com sent me and realized I probably shouldn't be doing this, so I pulled the site immediately. I am working on some new ideas (legal ones this time ;) ).

Thanks to all that responded, I appreciate the input.

oh yeah, pretty intelligent using the word fuck. Grabbing images off of usenet is not thieving, posting them like I was breaks copyright laws, not theft laws, but good try! Let me know where I was being an asshole and I will deal with it. Until then, keep your worthless comments to yourself and save the bandwidth for someone who has something useful to say.

Seems to me he made a mistake and he corrected it pretty fast. I think it was good of you phrac to correct the problem and take the legal route.

I'll try :D - as long as he admits that he used stolen images and his former policies were assholish. He still claims that his images were not stolen. Copyright infringement IS theft.

Let us remember, he pulled my name out of the line-up first. I've been a member of several adult webmaster boards and never have I made my first post and attack on another board member. Why? Because I'm not an asshole. Ok, I am an asshole, but still...
