They try it a lot with ICQ also. I get those you need to enter your ICQ number to keep your membership active. Then it's linked to something like "www.letmeripyouoff" |jester|

I get the paypal one about once a month, and a bucket load of the best 409 scammers. Someone (probably someone who loves me a bunch) has been adding my email addresses with unending persistance to a bunch of spam lists, to the point where I will probably be changing email addresses within a few more days. I am down to less than 0.1% actual valid mail coming in on over 3000 pieces a day. This shit is just out of hand. Alex |
Alex
Things really are out of hand. I mean jesus can't someone shut down those fuckin' nigerian millionaire scams. They've been going forever. When I tried to go to DarkProfits I clicked a couple of links and had to register to see more so I said screw that. What kind of board makes you regisiter just to see any part of it? |
Ramster, I think you are going to see a MAJOR backlash against spam in the next little while. The new hotmail, the new AOL 9.0 (more spam filters), and AT&T almost blocked all outgoing mail on their network except for through their mail servers.
Spam is a blight, and it makes it almost impossible to run an honest opt in mailer without being lumped in with scammers and liars... Alex |
My hosting company has Spam Assassin, and once I turned it on, my spam worries are almost gone. It was a freebie, too, and it works better than Spam Terminator I used to use.
I run 2 newsletters and I do double opt-in and maintain all subscriber records. Never had a complaint. I do occasionally get complaints when I post in a Yahoo or MSN group because some newbie subscribes to the group and leaves the default option on, to forward all messages posted to the group to his email address. So when the group post shows up in his inbox he emails me back and asks me how I got his email address, stop spamming him, etc. So I always take a minute to reply and explain to him how to change his Yahoo Group email preferences. |
spams are the scams in the internet, im hoping that Outlook 2003 can very well address this problem.
