Newbie question about Celebrity content
 

I was wondering, what's the deal with celebrity galleries/freesites? I haven't found any content providers or sponsors that provide celebrity content (just a few sponsors with FHG).

So are people using "public domain" pictures? Stuff from usenet? Screencaps from DVDs?

Or have I just not found the right sponsors/providers?

As far as I know there is no legal celebrity content. Only the content on MrSkin.com and the flashcash related sites is legal. MrSkin.com donated some free celebrity content here a while ago and that was all the legal celebrity content I have in my possesion :)

that brings up something I was curious about... has anybody seen the new celebrity "photochop" sites where they use celebrities faces and naked models bodies doing some pretty explicit stuff? it would seem to me that that is just begging for trouble and the sites are from a decent sized sponsor

why shouldn't there be any legar celeb content?

it's only a question if you can get it licensed to give it away to your affiliates.

I know celeb bling - and they have tons of legal celeb content in their members area.

Think about where most celebrity content comes from. Either Magazines - ie playboy, fhm, etc. Tabloids - british, enquirer, etc. or movie screen caps.

If you can get permission or liscence from any of the previously noted, either you have deep pockets to pay for it, or you know something i dont.

hehe, so if these big newspapers or magazines use that content it must be legal, isn't it?

but if you can use for your purposes is the other question.

Its not a question of the magazines getting away with it, the magazines buy the rights to the images from the photographers, who in turn get paid once, or in royalties. It using those images yourself for profit thats illegal.

Now, taking pics of Anna Kornikouva on the beach from a tele-photo lense.. is that legal? I guess so, but fuck... it shouldnt be.

it is legal, yes - but a person can go against it if he doesn't want to be in public, i.e. personality rights

but for celebs it's a bit more complicated as they are persons standing in the public.
