How many sponsors do you use

Getting back into the porn business after a while away, just wondering how many sponsors most people use.

Do you focus on 1-3 sponsors or spread it more thinly?

Cheers

Pstar

I use hundreds
I would rather be using 10 different sponsors making 100 dollars each
then make 1000 dollars with one sponsor

this way they dont cheat you so much and when one takes a shit its not a huge hit

I lost count some years ago. The ones I signed up for the last year, I haven't even had time to start promoting... but one day I'll get to them :)
I find a lot more stability in using that many.

The downside is that I don't have any large sponsors that I get goodies from ;)

SinSational 2005-04-13 12:35 PM

i'm signed up with quite a few but usually promote about 10 at a time. it changes monthly though

When I stumble upon a new sponsor that has saleable appearing sites, I sign with them. But really, I hardly promote any of them. I'm a fucker that way.

HC-Majick 2005-04-13 01:14 PM

same thing here....i'm signed up with a lot of different sponsors, but only actively promote 5-6 at any one time.

Tommy has reminded me a couple of times to "not have all my eggs in one basket" I'm signed up to 350 or so programs & of course, some make more than others, but I learned my lesson the hard way when a large percent of my income was coming from one sponsor that changed around their entire program & fucked me for a couple of months.

I guess even 1-3 means spreading it too thinly!

Like Tommy and Greenguy I have been burned in the past by some bad companies, so I try to spread it a bit more - I guess currently it's around 20.

But then I take also other things into account:
- how long does it take me to learn how to sell a sponsor?
- bank charges: sponsors who don't allow to set a minimum payout usually get dumped. $10 bank fees for overseas checks (+ my time to bank the fucker) eats too much into a $100 payment.

These 2 issues quite often stop me from signing up! Plus I really like to see advertising material before I make up my mind!

Not as many as I should! I'm signed up with about 100 sponsors but those that don't remind me to use there prog. by newsletter, icq message, whatever, sometimes get lost in the shuffle.

thebes 2005-04-14 12:41 AM

I am signed up with 40, many just because they have a few fhgs I am using. Some I signed up with and their content was a joke, so I have done nothing with them. A lot of my eggs in one basket recently broke, so I will definately not put the majority of my effort into any one sponsor.

Jel 2005-04-14 03:06 AM

Around 120 here, taken in turns to actively push. Of course, some of those sponsors have like 60 programs, so that's a lotta sites overall :D

Rocco 2005-04-14 03:07 AM

I try all I can find and stay up with the 20 best ;)

Certifiedbitch 2005-04-14 05:44 AM

right now, i only promote one sponsor.

That's true for me too. I often times forget that I've signed up to different sponsors and the only thing that reminds me is an occasional newsletter announcing their new hosted galleries and free sites, content released, and stuff like that. I'm very sporadic in my efforts.

grzepa 2005-04-14 07:46 AM

Im signed up with a lot of sponsors but I usually heavy promote like 2-3 at some period of time...

The way I find out I've already joined a program is when I try to sign up and it says 'sorry that user name already exists'

PR_Tom 2005-04-14 10:08 AM

What I'd start with is 1 sponsor per each different processor and covering niches you need. And add on from there.

Roby 2005-04-14 11:55 AM

I have use about 3 sponsors and really happy wiht them.
Some times i looking for new to get garanty about my stable work.

dareutwo 2005-04-14 01:19 PM

Lots - I don't have a number, though its over 50 at least.
I try to promote 10-15 different per week, and see what happens.
The top 3-5 keep getting promoted until they drop off and constantly trying out new ones.
While I don't ever plan on getting bonus money, consistent cashable checks is what I like.
Yeah, Tommy told me to diversify too.
Damn, that was a long time ago :)

What "Max Cash thing"?

Really curious! That was the first sponsor I had trouble with in 2000!!

And unfortunately from then onwards things went downhill...

Wait, correct that: there was one company before that, Intergal, who never paid me! But that was only ~$450, which didn't hurt much at the time...

Greenguy 2005-04-14 07:52 PM

The whole FCC thing that Max Cash & CE went thru in 98 or 99.
