Hosted free sites, opinions please

3 part question:-)
Most programs offer a wide variety of hosted galleries, but I don’t see as many sponsors offering hosted free sites, any idea why?

I would assume program owners would offer as many tools as possible, after all (and excuse my ignorance if I’m wrong) isn’t a free site just a warning page that leads to a main page with links to two or three galleries?

We are planning to add HFS to our program are there any do’s or don’ts you can suggest?

That thread answers all the questions :)

Greenguy 2005-04-26 02:58 PM

Yuppers - that thread pretty much sums it up for every affiliate program that does not yet offer them :)

Kenny B! 2005-04-26 03:00 PM

Awsome I'll check it out, thanks!

Certifiedbitch 2005-04-27 04:55 AM

there are some sponsors that offer hosted free sites.

Hopefully all using the same template, without titles, and an uncredited exit link |viking|

Ok I'm getting back in my box...

Put it this way, Wazza..

There are many, many advantages having a rep who is a webmaster and participates on webmaster boards who has done link lists, free sites, galleries, tgps him or herself.

First attempt so be kind, but honest please:-)

Greenguy 2005-04-27 09:25 PM

Those look OK to me, but feel free to put some ads on the warning page :D

Cleo 2005-04-27 09:32 PM

Yeah ads on all pages.

I would remove the underline from most of the text and just underline the call to action.

docholly 2005-04-27 10:19 PM

and make sure you let Chop know when you are ready to roll to your affiliates.. because he has this great tool that hopefully we all use..

On the first one, the animated gif which reads CLICK HERE TO VISIT ANGIEXXX.COM blinks too quickly to be read easily. With my lovely springtime allergies it made my eyes water to focus on it.

Otherwise, I think they're pretty damned good. Keeping them simple is best. I could probably give you a more informed opinion after a few drinks and some light petting with Angie :D , but something tells me that that isn't going to happen very soon.

Amen to that!

Ramster 2005-04-28 09:10 AM

Agreed. You need a banner option on the warning page. Also site 2 is a mix of softcore and hardcore. I personally prefer to see a site be the same theme. All hardcore or all something else.

Kenny B! 2005-04-28 09:56 AM

Just to make sure, when you say adds, just another banner to the site, correct?

Thanks for the feedback btw!

swedguy 2005-04-28 10:00 AM

ads can be banner, text link, banner with text link, table banner, or some other creative thing.

Kenny B! 2005-04-28 10:41 AM

Okay cool thanks I have added a banner to each of the index pages:-)

swedguy 2005-04-28 10:49 AM

I don't want you to take my question as rude or anything, but I hope you will understand why I ask it :)

http://www.iagals.com/angiexxx/frees/002gy/

Why would I (as a surfer) want to click the banner?

Kenny B! 2005-04-28 11:16 AM

Swedguy, I asked for the comments I don't take any offence, I appreciate you taking your time to help!

Maybe I'm slow this morning but I don't see what the issue with the banner is. I assume I am supposed to add a banner for the site the affiliate is promoting, I wouldn't put any leaks that affiliates won't get credit for.

Can you be a little more specific please?

Edit: I added some text with a text link in between the enter button and the banner.

swedguy 2005-04-28 11:55 AM

Don't worry, it has nothing to do with leaks or anything like that. Ads should be made to sell, not just put up for the sake of putting something in an empty space :)

A banner with nothing that entices me to signup or sparks my curiosity about the sponsor site is a waste, in my opnion.
Also remember that a surfers attention span isn't too long. If they see something that catches their eye, they might read the next line.

I saw that you edited your post, so I think you kinda got what I was getting at :)

Kenny B! 2005-04-28 12:31 PM

I figured it out when I went looking at some other examples! I hope to have our first batch of hfs up by the end of the day, thanks again for your time and input it's much appreciated!

neveremail 2005-04-28 12:42 PM

I think that the FHS that you've made are pretty good - but I agree with Swedguy about the banner. Needs to be far more eye catching.

Just one question about FHS in general:
I assume that FHSs are generally made for link list owners and not webmasters who make free sites as they would not be accepted on link lists in the same way TGPs dont accept hosted galleries. So its just for link list owners to make extra cash?
