LMAO...

geeze Cleo, now everything you have told me has to be taken with a grain of salt... you obviously do not love the MAC as much as you claim...

Cleo 2005-04-28 02:47 PM

Actually I don't love Macs, I hate computers, all of them. I just want to sit down and whatever without having to mess with anything. I spend close to zero hours doing anything to my computer operating system each month. Open lid, immediately start using it, finish using it, close lid.

How much time do you spend each mouth running virus checks, defraging, getting shit to work, etc.?

A properly set up Windows XP can be as trouble free as a Mac. Benefits of a PC...you can build your own for 1/4th the cost of a mac :D

Cleo 2005-04-28 04:10 PM

I didn't know that you could build a box for $125. I thought that the Windows disk cost more then that.

I built a computer for a friend and it cost me roughly $250 to build. OS came bundled from the manufacturer when I bought the other components (granted it was a Windows 2000, but in many ways that's better than xp). You just have to know where to look and how to buy.

Also once a mac becomes antiquated you really can't do that much with it. Oh wait...there is one thing:

:D

Flat screen Macs don't make very good aquariums unless you can find really flat fish. :(

At least the fish would be virus free.

I didnt mean for this to turn into a mac vs PC debate but for what its worth....

I spend zero hours a week checking for trojans and the like. Why?

AVG Antivirus
Windows Service Pack 2.0

pretty much anything that can install anything on my machine is guarded against with SP 2.0. Autoupdates for me too.

AVG virus removes anything that's a problem. Autoupdates then runs while I sleep.

So overall my pc is tip top due to automation. :) when i'm sleeping its still working.

Not that I dislike a mac, we had them in high school. No hard drives though.

now if i could turn one of those into an aquarium i'd own a mac again.

great work machines. shit awful for gaming. :)

BUT, These days to get a 'basic' pc that doesnt do a lot you can really build it for dirt cheap. I dont know about 125 bucks but I put together

2.4 gig
1gig of ram
windows XP pro
Nvidia TI4600 Geforce 4

all the bells and whistles.....

for about 600 3 years ago. :) to build that same machine now would be 300 or so.

The windows XP disk was a comp tho, a gift from a friend. I'll use it in the next PC i build for even more savings. :)
