RSS Feed

Sorry for this newbie question but can someone tell me how to go about making a rss feed? I have no ideal. I did some searches and see a ton of softsare for it but is it really necessary? I mean isn't it just a text file? If I do need software which is the best?

Hey snagglepuss. I read a 'real easy rss' writeup the other day. I cant remember who wrote it... hrm

Basically if you're blogging you want an RSS feed, people are coming to expect it.

The easiest way to make sure you have a feed is use software that has feed packaging already inside (word press, typepad, blogger.com, etc)

RSSify used to be an easy way to create an RSS feed from anything but its since gone defunct.

if anyone has good suggestions for non built in RSS feed style generators i'd love to hear em.

=========edit-----

oh you asked if they were neccessary? With a blog they definately are something you'll want to look into. Think of it as a 'super' bookmark that people can republish right on their desktop or in their RSS engines.

the gain from these can be invaluable. Its not 100% neccessary but its definately worth looking into.

Its not just html its a different form that is easily readable and easily syndicated :) (stands for real simple syndication)

basic html and text with none of the bells and trappings of the full blown deal.

Hey Boggie how's it hanging dude. Thanks for replying.

Do you think you could send me, cyclops@qis.net or post a sample rss feed? If I can use notpad on it and it's that simple I might not even need any software.

amazon.com sells an error correcting modem. I wonder if that would help. :)

swedguy 2005-05-02 05:49 PM

Snagglepuss 2005-05-04 04:40 PM

Just a quickie

If you want to put urls (or text) that use &'s in you blogs don't forget to wrap the entry in a tag. as some xml parsers freak out on the &'s

This one is an example of a clean tgp style blog with 100% sponsor urls.

RSS Feed

Anyone wants the script that does that hit me up on ICQ 243040024... I can customize it for your site for good traffic or good links etc :D
