How do PPS sponsors make money these days

I have been thinking a lot about this and I can't figure it out
Is it not true that the retention on members is much lower now than 3 years ago? Is it not true that surfers are getting more sophisticated - they can get a 3 day trial and with their fast broadband connections they can download all content in membersarea and then cancel and jump to another site. Not to mention all the free stuff they can find when searching ex yahoo and google.
As I see it, only very very very very good niche sites can keep their members and the traditional PPS sites has to make money another way on the members who cancel? Are they sending out new offers after they cancel on other programs?
Maybe an entire new way of making money on adult internet surfers has to be found.
So whats the golden word? How do PPS sponsors like ARS etc make the big bucks?
BTW: Nice weekend to all in here.

Smoke, mirrors, and upsells.

And here I thought it was voodoo, witchcraft, and shaving.

I'm sure shaving plays a part in some cases, but I have enough revshare rebillers that hang around for 4, 5, 6 months that I know not all surfers are downloading and bailing. From what I've read posted by program owners, it basically boils down to their average total revenue per signup. Plus, don't forget all the console sales you never get paid for, all the sales generated by email boxes on tours that you never get paid for...it's obviously going to be different for every particular sponsor, but these are some of the things that factor in.

I've never run nor managed a PPS program, but Jim has, so I'll let him take this one, as I've had many discussions with him on this subject & he knows his shit :)

Oh - he's slacking off doing something with his ass pimple or motor cycle, but he'll offer input to this thread :)

Decent members areas with 3 months as an average rebilling per member
Upsells
Cross sells
Email sales from tour page collection
Re-selling exclusive content they may produce for their paysites
Selling exit traffic
Console sales that aren't passed onto the affiliates
Dialer/ach/sms/alternative cc sales ie: (jcb) that aren't passed onto the affiliate

And I'm sure many other methods that aren't listed here.

Okay I get it :). I know there's good programs where members rebill "forever". I got good experience with karups (which I have not been selling for around 2½ years but still receive checks), naughtyamerica and ACMP which I stopped selling when AdultCheck closed many webmasters out. But I have also seen some shitty membersareas where I thought - who the hell will pay for this.
Maybe necrom is right - that all the other stuff they do can make it up for the lower retention.
What's Jim got to say about it.

That's it in a nutshell. It was always my standard line when someone using a PPS program I was running would bitch about exits or ezclicks or something else. It is the only way a PPS program can continue to operate with a profit.
