No Respect I tell ya!

(with Props to the late great Mr. Dangerfield)
There have been 2 posts lately that have inspired me to create this one. not wanting to hijack anyone elses posts.
[rant]When I started in the biz (well after some of you and well before others) there was really only one major way to make money if you were not a paysite owner. That was sign up for a partnership program from someone that had a paysite. (oh sure there was this ONE program that offered pay per click, but you had an 50/50 chance that when you were owed BIG money that the owner of that program would change the TOS and now you were violating it and no check was coming!! LOL) I am sure there were other ways to make money, but this one was the prevelant way to make some green. And it was good too...... very simple math. Sign up for the program of your choice, send them traffic, it converted, you made 50% of the money. Then toss in 50% on recurs and you stood a pretty good chance at making some money. It might take a few months, but after awhile. You could make a living at it. I knew one guy who was making $7000 per month from one site alone.
I know the dynamics have changed. traffic is harder to come by. a lot more webmaster competing for what seems like a smaller portion of the pie. But still, it seems to be that the 50/50 rev share is still the best way to go IF the paysite your traffic is signing up to is a quality site. Why then is there, or does there seem to be little respect for programs that offer 50/50 rev and no PPS? Is this a sign of the instant gratification culture we have all been exsposed to since birth? Or something else? Do surfers have such a small attention span that even when they find a site they like they dont recur?
Whats changed?
Do you sign up for the paysite to see if there is a reason for a surfer to stay?
What does a 50/50 program have to do to draw you in? Convince you to try their program?[/rant]

I do use a lot of revshare programs but if I'm offered the option, I usually just take the PPS because I'm a greedy fuck :D

I blame the big powerhouse sponsors for creating a shitload of crap sites, all sharing the same content, with no hopes of member retention. One just assumes that a sponsor's sites are shit and you better grab the cash while you can. Also, what newbie (like GG for example) isn't going to grab the quick cash and run?

I personally prefer revshare. Of course, with my sales history it doesn't really matter what the sponsor offers - I'm not going to make money anyway. I do it for the love.

"For the love" that's priceless thanks for giving me a good laugh this morning Useless... that was great.

GG, oh yeah man, I know I am pretty eager to make lots and lots more money heh heh. PPS is coming for our program, but not until we are absolutely ready. I'll let ya know ;)

I think that there is lots of reasons most people prefer PPS, but I think 2 of the most common are:

1. They don't want to be "partnered" with a site, they would rather just sell the traffic or joins(however you look at it) and get a $35 or whatever PPS chunk of the action and be done. The reason being, situations like Busty Amateurs, where I know people that had tens of thousands in monthly reccuring and one day...BAM site was closed! Recurring gone, site gone, options to get paid gone... So when your in a parnership and you don't control the site, your on the short end of that "partnership".

2. Is they are greedy fucks like GG... lol ;)

Revshare pays my mortgage

Even during the months that I lost vital listings on Google, the recurring was still there

Maximum revenue for your efforts, over time = revshare :D

I'm glad to see there are more believers in revshare out there. I think long term revshare can be more profitable. I have checks coming in from sponsors that I haven't promoted in over a year yet I still have 2 or 3 guys that have been rebilling since then.

Getting that check every 6 weeks (I have to hit the minimum:-) reminds me, I should promote them again... I then check the sites and they still have exit consoles that I don't get credit on:-)
