ePassporte and Mastercard
 

I just noticed that you can't load an epassporte account using mastercard. How long has this been going on? And, how much longer will it last?

Several months ago I could not use mastercard there, but I used mastercard to load there just a few weeks ago.

Not sure Jim. You could before, I did it with my mastercard maybe a year ago. Kind of sucks actually I have 3 mastercards, no visa.

It does make sense seeing as Visa & Master Card are competitors (like CCBill not accepting ePassporte because of Epoch's involvement)

No, mastercard worked up until a few weeks ago when I last checked.

Maybe they just noticed it was a Visa product? :D

I just checked and on 04/01/05 I used master charge to put some money in my epassporte account. Now I get Due to technical difficulties, we are unable to process MasterCard transactions at this time; however you may still use your VISA. This is a temporary problem and we working to get it resolved as quickly as possible. Sorry for this inconvenience.

I wonder if epoch is having technical difficulties with mastercard as well.

apparantly this is supposed to be fixed up by the end of this week...this info comes directly from the support phone people.

wanted to open an account on epassporte about 5 months ago and noticed I can't use mastercard

I reloaded my account 15 Apr 2005 using MC and it worked.

It's probably not terribly helpful to this conversation, but for all practical purposes, Visa = MasterCard. They are different when it benefits them and they are the same when it benefits them. For you as a consumer, the only real difference is the logo on your plastic and the first four numbers on your account.

I just called and they said they were doing a software upgrade. Sounds a lot like Bullshit to me. And, a lot of business not getting done. Rand, what is the real reason that epassporte is not working with mastercard?

I was a little surprised as well. But, I really can't blame him from shying away from it.

Muggenjuggen epassporte. I tried to sign up yesterday and had all manner of trouble - possibly because of this software upgrade.

I just talked to someone else at epassporte and they told me that there was a problem on mastercards end. I asked coyly, "are you upgrading some software or something?" They told me "NO, it is a problem with mastercard".

I wonder if I can get a different answer every time I call. :)
