So, my Bike's new home arrived today

I bought a shed, if you can call it that. (12' x 20') The Amish built it and all the lumber was hand cut...beautiful.

Anyway, we decided to get some topsoil for our little yard. My wife orders 9 yards. I rent this cool little thing called a dingo front end loader.

Little did I know that it can and will tip over :) After I figured it out, everything went fine but damn, I am tired.

Greenguy 2005-05-19 11:05 PM

I agree - this thread is meaningless without pics :D

Rocco 2005-05-20 02:40 AM

yeah, pics would be great :D

Jim 2005-05-20 08:21 AM

I will take pics today. I still have quite a bit of dirt to move today.

Jim 2005-05-20 08:49 PM

Well, after a day of moving dirt, we decided to go out and buy some grass seed. I found a place that had sod that you just roll out. I am thinking, really expensive, right? $65 delivered :) 1 hour of rolling it out and I now have a finished lawn :)

Tomorrow, fence and electric day. I am getting a heater for the bike boudoir that has an air conditioner built in. Kind of like those motel things.

Cleo is the resident Sod Expert.

Ahh the casement AC/Heater -- I debated knocking a hole in a wall for one that I could put on the generator. :)

Cleo 2005-05-20 09:03 PM

Sod her is $130 for 500 square of it slid off the truck. My backyard took 1000 square feet. I used a wheelbarrow to wheel it into my backyard.

I just laid mine over the sand that is what we have for dirt if you don't have sod.

The sod I got was rectangles about 2x4 each. I've also seen the sod in rolls but for whatever reason the rectangles are more popular and so is what most of the places here have. The black dirt that it grows in gets on everything and is almost as bad as black paint trying to get it washed off.

Mine is almost ready for its first cut.

Greenguy 2005-05-20 10:16 PM

The same thing happened at my house today, except I was napping & stuffing my fat face while the menial task guys took care of my yard :D

Cleo 2005-05-21 04:41 PM

I'm thinking that you need a Gnome for your new yard.

Cleo 2005-05-22 11:38 AM

Some of us do take the time to take some pics and post them of our home projects…

RawAlex 2005-05-22 02:12 PM

I feel somehow cheated. ;)

Torn Rose 2005-05-22 02:13 PM

what a dick....

Trev 2005-05-22 03:16 PM

Reasons for no pics yet.

a) He's not taking any pics until it's done and perfect.
b) Gabbo is helping him so it's taking forever
c) No before and after (or during) pics... (what do you think this is, a weight loss ad???) He's only taking pictures once, dammit!
d) All of the above.
e) All of the above and then some.

Torn Rose 2005-05-22 03:40 PM

f) he's a dick

I say F....

RawAlex 2005-05-22 04:15 PM

Ours was 2x6 and I covered 650 Sq Feet for the $65.

But out local average income is about $22k. So, a lot of things are really cheap. Land, for instance. I paid $15k for 57 acres. It was a special deal but it still isn't worth much more than 30k. Strange too...I am actually finally having it logged and they told me I should get about $40k for the wood.

As for pictures...I told my lovely wife Victoria to take pictures of me using the Dingo and she never did. It made her really nervous watching me use it :) I just finished the electric rough in today. Next, insulation and then sheet rock. I am getting a local artist friend to do something Harley Davidson on one of the walls.

Jim 2005-05-22 06:00 PM

And let there be light.
I just buried the cable and hooked it to the main box in our house and it worked...nice.

Torn Rose 2005-05-22 06:25 PM

Cleo 2005-05-22 06:32 PM

I think Jim should be banned for posting home improvement details with No Fucking Pics.

Where's the love?

Yell 2005-05-22 06:46 PM

Ya Jim....... |swear|

Jim 2005-05-22 07:14 PM

I will take pictures tomorrow. Right now it is a mess from my electrical work. And, all the mud from doing the yard.

Greenguy 2005-05-23 08:54 AM

Torn - Jim would actually have to figure out how to use the camera and get the pics down to his PC & then read the VB FAQ page on how to post them to a thread :D
