Choosing content for your blog

Now that we've had a good solid month to work on our blogs and we should all be seeing anywhere between a couple hundred hits a day to a couple thousand lets talk about what you're writing, how you're writing, and what you can improve.

Recently I have tried to be more content oriented rather than chatty. I've gotten straight to the point of what I want to discuss.

I have had great success introducing models to folks by name, specifically with single girl sites.

Raven riley, ashley brookes, etc.

In addition I have had great effect when 'talking about a site' as a whole. Doing a quick 5 paragraph writeup on a site, that includes sample galleries and a link to the tour have had some amazing clickthrough rates.

Conversions on those havent been as nice as I'd liked but on most cases I blame the site. :(

here is a great example of one of those sites:

My Polls have also been great for interactivity. I can only expect about 1:100 people to vote so that's kind of frustrating. It seems to vary wildly depending on the poll topic and the traffic source for the day.

Sometimes there will be 30 votes in a day and then sometimes nothing for 2-3 days.

I've found leaving the poll up for about a week will get me over 100 votes and then I 'call it'

The clickthrough rates from places like Technorati for the Poll topics and results are fairly strong as well.

Posting just raw galleries, as I do for Met-art for example, has had mixed reactions.

I've had surfers ask for more, I'm sure posting met-art regularly is getting me bookmarkers, and I've had a fair number of signups this way.

Not to mention putting both the name of the model + the layout name + "met art" in the post has managed to draw some engine hits :)

Now what hasnt worked?

I dont think my linking to non adult things is very popular. I have little way of tracking hits but I think that only a small number of people are there to view the flash/movie links on monday and friday.

The ones that ARE there for that are very, very vocal however. Its hard to turn those people into sales tho.

So i'm thinking of slimming it down to being more all about porn.

Anyone else wanna talk about how they choose their content and what they're writing?

Interesting Boogie. I chose to go straight up with your second method. I chose to write up paragraphs on a certain site, sometimes including hosted galleries or pics of the model from the site i am writing about. Like you said, it has been very successful with clickthroughs, but the conversion is a b****. I have been able to get some sales from the method, but i have contemplated dropping it, but i figured i would give it atleast another month or two before i move on to a new technique. I think it is easier to write when you find the site you will write about, the image content to present, and the model to write about as well. I believe it helps build up the content for your site, and something for the SE's to go for. I DO need to start including more SE rich keywords in my entries. Traffic still proves to be the hardest thing to get in this world, just like anything else i have done in adult, traffic is tough to come along, because i do not post a shitload of galleries for the surfers to leech on.

Since there is nothing more boring to me than writing ad copy, I write mostly news and political commentary. I'm not looking for the free porn surfers. I'm looking for the mainstream surfers who might be curious and click on the porn links when they come across them. I just make the porn available. I don't try to sell it on the blog. I try to make the sale on the sites the blog links to.

Do you think that works better? Just curious.

I do. I'm getting search engine traffic from people looking for information on current events or political issues, since that's the bulk of my writing. Most of these would be people who don't already have porn memberships somewhere. Many of them don't know where to find lots of free porn because they don't search for it. And they're mostly adults, since kids don't have much interest in politics. I figure mainstream traffic is the best quality traffic. Even though they aren't looking for porn when they find the blog, a good share of them will click on my links out of curiosity. I get enough joins to keep the bills paid, anyway.
