Pulling free sites down.

Since the new 2257 regulations are most likely being a reality I have decided to pull all of my free sites/galleries and just redirect them to a simple 404 page and make a fresh start when we all know what exactly is being required from us.
The domains that is being affected is,
Babesandteens.com
Pixelbeam.com
Slickamateurs.com

Just wanted all the link list owners know.

I feel that is an over kill, I would just put in soft content until the new law is explained.

I think we as an industry are doing little to educate ourselves or plan the future. I have clients who are sponsors saying they will give out IDs, in clear breach of the license, and to hell with the future. Then others are saying to hell with the US affiliate who wants free hardcore.

And some are still talking to a lawyer, a year or nearly after the new amendments were brought out.

RUN! The sky is falling.

mist 2005-05-30 07:11 AM

Well, I don’t think its overkill. I feel that it would be to time consuming to go over all sites, contact the sponsors or the content studios and try to get hold on the ID’s and documents for all the content. Some sponsors I have contacted regarding this has not even replied, some tells me that they will be dropping some sites… So I feel it’s safer to remove the old stuff and go for a fresh start when we all now where this will actually take this business.

Obviously, you can't just swap in softcore if you have sites listed in hardcore categories. You'd be better off deleting them than breaking rules and thusly creating sites that aren't going to produce sales.

But but but, why not wait awhile longer? See what info trickles out the next few weeks.

On the other hand, and this comment isn't pointing at just you mist, if anyone is shaken this easily without knowing all of the facts, I just assume they pull their sites.

Cleo 2005-05-30 08:35 AM

I pulled your stuff as requested.

More traffic for the rest of us.

Ramster 2005-05-30 08:40 AM

People are getting crazy. But to each his/her own. As Cleo said, more traffic for the rest of us.

Rocco 2005-05-30 10:24 AM

thanks for telling

That's what I'm doing.. somehow I doubt this thing is going to go through in it's current form. People are throwing out scenarios like "300 cp webmasters rounded up in last 2 weeks".. well how's this for a headline "Bobby 'The Rapist' Johnson, who raped and killed 14 women by posing as a webmaster to find out confidential information such as name and address, has finally been caught."

It's not like porn is just going to go away if we're required to keep records and post our adresses. It does suck though, I wish we could fast forward a year and see where this is going, it's clear as mud right now |dizzy| .

Yes, that would be a rather nice if we could do that, but I think it will be very interesting to follow it through, though, and see how the business will change and what new opportunities that will rise from it.

That is so much easier said than done. I have hundreds of free sites. Many webmasters have far, far more than I do. Most of my sites I consider "softcore"...but I would still have to double-check them to be sure, in light of how much of the revised regulations actually went through.

Shutting my mouth now because I haven't yet visited with my attorney (that's happening soon, in June, yay I made a rhyme) and I don't want to add to the general confusion. ;)

|dizzy| dont give me more work please.....so more who wanna have their sites pulled?

You will find very few sponsors actually have the rights to give away IDs. Some are doing it and hoping they do not get into hot water. A model will sue before long if this is done wide spread.

Not to mention the other sections of the porn industry using it as a reason for models not to work for Internet companies.

They already tell models their privacy is safer with a $30 DVD from and adult porn shop, than it is on the free sites all her male friends a family surf. Telling the models that we're giving out her IDs will slam the lid shut I'm afraid.

In Canada we has strict privacy laws. It would be illegal to give out the info without the express WRITTEN contsent of those involved. This is not likely something that would be practical to do going back to 1995.

I would advise that to sponsors every where. The US courts would not look kindly on a pornograher who was distributing a students IDs because she happened to do a days work modelling nude.

Let's not get too down on Mist or anyone else that does this - there will be a lot of people in the same boat that think it'll be easier to scrap what they have (and let people know like Mist is doing in this post ) and then start over with sites & content that follows the new law (assuming it goes into place)

If the new law goes thru, it'd be a HUGE task for most of us to get all out sites in compliance with it in any timely manner.

Cleo 2005-05-31 09:19 AM

I'm personally hoping that about 90% of everyone pulls their stuff down. As someone that came into this biz after the legends of what the money was like in around 1997 I wouldn't mind seeing this again.

On a side note I will NOT be banning anyone for having their stuff go 404 for the next couple of months. :)
