html for no wrap text over an image?

Can anyone tell me how to place text over an image on an html page. I dont want to make the image with text on it already in photo shop. I want it to just sit in the back ground under the page text. I cant set it as a backgound because it then gets tiled all over the page or table. Can i turn off the tile feature so it only gets shown once. But it cant be centered, must be in top left corner.

Put it as a background image in the cell of a table. Make the cell the same size or smaller then the image so that it doesn't tile. You can then add text to the cell. Be sure that you don't add so much text that it causes the cell to expand.

You can also use CSS to turn off tiling of background images but it may still tile in some browsers.
