Do exit links count towards your outgoing link limit.

I have an exit link on this page:

http://paradisebikinis.com/bikini-sex/

"If you do not agree to these conditions or are offended by adult material you must exit bikini sex by clicking here."

Does that count towards your outgoing link limit?????

Linkster 2005-06-07 10:42 AM

No - although I better qualify that - as long as it does not go to an adult sponsor of yours :)

If it's something you make money from I'd say yes. Many probably won't mind as long as it's not adult related.

But I really don't see the point in having an exit link of any kind. Google (what most people use) has enough traffic, and if it's an affiliate link of some sort the chances of making a sale have to be one in a million.

People know where the back button is if they don't like your site. You should be giving them reasons to stay, not to get out.

What Linkster said. But also, I don't like seeing the exit going to those bastardly software sites that sell programs to kill history and cookies. I'll count that as twenty outgoing links cause it's bad for business.

I'm also with Lemmy in that I don't see the point of an exit link anyway.

There was a time when I tried to make money on exit links to non-adult sponsors. That time is gone.

Its just a pay per click link to a non-adult portal.Have a look and see.

What do you think???

Do you actually have to have an exit link or can you not bother??

On this topic... can I point the link to one of my own non adult sites? Like dating advice site etc?

Exit links should never go to adult sites, sort of defeats the purpose.

EDIT: Yeah, I should learn how to read. |dizzy|

As long as the exit link is non-adult I have no problems and I doubt any others will either :)

Kinda depends to me, if it goes to a sponsor of any kind, that counts to your sponsor 'outlinks' in my book, whether it's adult or not.

Jeremy 2005-06-07 05:35 PM

Phooey.

If you have great content, the navigation is easy, and the ads are reasonable, then I've got a lot better things to do than count your outlinks.

If you have the possibility of making money, I count it as an outlink, where's the difference between this and a sponsor link?

If they are kids, let them OUT.
If they aren't kids, they will be back into circulation in minutes.

Same with the 2257 links.. been a few blacklisted for shady dealings there too.
(and yes, I click that link)
