Traffic Skim on a LL?
 

Have never run into this before...at least not that I've noticed...so thought I'd toss it out there for this knowledgable crew |thumb

Recently started submitting to a link site that looked pretty promising. Sure enough, they're accepting all my sites without a hitch...all good.

But, a week or so ago...took a peek at some of the listings and saw that they were re-directing to other sites. Ok, so either he's got a script problem...or he sometimes skims???

Just went though the link site looking at some of my listings again. Could not find a SINGLE freakin listing that actually goes to my listed site. ALL of them are re-directed to pay sites, other link sites, portals...etc..

Sure enough, a look at server logs shows not a single click from this link site...and he's got at least a couple dozen of my sites listed.

A board search here turned up no info on the link site domain...so no info there...

Anyone else run across something like this?

Anyway, back to the point...I have to back pedal but only slightly. Checked server logs on the other domains I've been using the past few weeks. I've gotten ONE hit on an interracial site. Followed the link in server stats to the ll in question and sure enough...on page six of the interracial section...my site is there...and the link does actually go to my site.

But, clicking links on the first page of that section (or any other section for that matter) go pretty much everywhere EXCEPT to the free site listed...this plain sucks |angry|

I'll be sending an e-mail telling the webmaster to remove all my sites...as I'll be pulling down the recips.

Anyone who knows me...knows I really don't like to fuck with someone's biz, or start drama on a public board...but this shit just ain't right |angry|

You should have known that the jump.cgi was going to do you bugger all good.

You never know, he may ban you and then you'll have to worry about how to recoup that one hit.

Yea Jeremy, I usually do steer away from jump links...but there are still some quality sites that use em.

Think it's time to go send the webmaster that mail telling him to pull my sites. Guess I'll risk losing that one hit :D

Since I'm unable as of yet to reach the webmaster, I might just leave the links up and move on...usually the simplest solution :)

Though the concept of what this site is doing still chaps my hide ...I really don't like the idea of yanking links without notifying the webmaster first either...

And for obvious reasons...I've got plenty of other stuff to deal with...rather than trying to track this stuff down.

Oh well...always something fun and interesting in this biz :D

Mr Yum - did he notify you he was running a skim? Would you have subbed had you realized he had a skim? You've tried to contact them, placed a thread here, and personally I'd give it a couple of weeks to account for vacations, offline stuff etc. and swap out the recip. You could also try mailing him from a different mailbox to see if that goes through.

I already submit sites to you...and you want ANOTHER recip...ya greedy bastard :D

Jel, nope he certainly didn't have anything listed anywhere saying he was skimming and definitely NOPE...I wouldn't have submitted there had I known in advance.

Will try from another mail box...then give it a couple weeks. By then, I should have a bit more time to deal with the issue anyway...make some final decisions at that time :)
