Experienced webmaster needed to help me

I can't get my formmail.pl configured properly to email me the info filled in from forms on my site.

I'd like to barter with an experienced webmaster to tweak this and get it running, plus do other very occasional tasks that won't take much time (just knowledge/experience).

In return I will host your site for free, a full-service hosting account with plenty of space and bandwidth, all the trimmings.

My site is here: http://cyberhostserver.com

If interested and able, please email me at james@jhussher.com

Have you done chmod 755 ??

Have you checked with your host about the location of perl? #!/usr/local/bin/perl and also where sendmail is?

If the script is actually working, but not forwarding completed forms to you, it's probably because you haven't told it to :)
You need a hidden field in your form that says (input type=hidden name="recipient" value="you@yourdomain.com") - change the ( and ) to < and >

Well I have the .pl script in my cgi-bin folder on my server. The script IS being accessed, because the error it is returning is that my domain is not allowed to access the script, I have to add my domain to the @referrers line in the script. The error page has the FormMail copyright on it at the bottom, so I assume that is a script-produced error.

But I already added it. And chmod is 755. And according to the README file and documentation on FormMail's own site, if I have my domain in the @referrers line, then any email I specifiy from that domain on the HTML of the actual page of my site that has the form on it will be a valid email. It is halting, though, before it actually processes the form info into an email and tries to send the email. It is halting with that access error, reproduced here:
Bad Referrer - Access Denied
The form attempting to use FormMail resides at http://cyberhostserver.com/templates...1/contact.htm, which is not allowed to access this cgi script

Maybe the script is supposed to be in another location, with Perl?
But the error talks about "this cgi script."

Is this for your contact form on the hosting site?

I was just looking at that and it looks like it is calling sendmail from a diffent domain(emade.com). Honestly I dont no anything about and I am not sure if that would be a problem or not. But thought I would note it.

It sounds like what I said above is the problem.

Change the 'form action='

Line to have your domain name instead of EMADE.COM

and it should work.

jhussher,

I just received an email from you that started with:
"* This is not sp^am, you are a member of one or more of our partner webmaster forums and have agreed to receive occasional mailings of interest. "

Could you please let me know which forum it was on that I agreed to receive mailings from you? As the only mailing from a forum that I know I have agreed to was the newsletter here from greenguyandjims.

Thanks in advance for letting me know.

fetish1 :

I would have to look you up by email address, could you PM me with that and I can check. I'm like you, I like to know how my address gets around.

You can always opt out of the list. I don't think Greenguy does it, but a lot of forums and message boards, when you register, in the fine print you agree to receive "occasional mailings from our partners", which protects email marketers from spam complaints when they purchase/rent that forum's email list.

PM sent.

Thanks
