Updating free sites

Hi,

I know many TGPs will blacklist you if you change your gallery pages after submission.

But I was wondering what the stance is by free sites.

I want to leave them as they are after submission but if I see a sp error or want to change a banner or sponser codes because the sponser is dead/changed can I do this??

What is it that these scripts that check for page changes use - do they simply use the date last modified or do they check for changes by comparing to thier own cache of the page??

As long as your FS remains within the LLs rules you should be fine. No-one's going to bl you for touching up code, spelling etc.

But with TGPs its a different storey right??

neveremail - yes tgps usually use a script that checks for changes wheras the LLs normally allow some leeway in changes - whether either one BL for changes is something they would have in their rules

I don't auto-BL for changes on my TGPs, but if the script flags a gallery as changed I'll re-check to make sure it's still within the rules. Many TGPs will not have the time to do that.

What about changes to the index.htm page - like removing recips from linklists that have rejected the freesite - is that generally accepted to?

Speaking only for myself, I'd say yes, it's OK. It's a reciprocal; if they don't list you, why should you list them?

Personally I think you may have to be careful with that one - sometimes big LL owners will only list you if thier recip is with another big LL. So you may have to be careful about who you remove - but I'm not too sure.
I guess removing small LL that don't list you would be fine but also be aware that some of the LLs may not have reviewed your submission yet so dont be too hasty in removing them.

Rather than spending time removing recips its probably just better to update your list of LL you submit to and get on with making more free sites - thats probably time better spent.
