Amazing How Xbiz Twists the News

This morning get an email - Feds Want Google, Yahoo to Beef up Filtering!!!!!!!

Now having read the real story yesterday I just thought it was interesting how someone would turn a relatively harmless little event into a "the sky is falling" article - just like all the doomsayers and shit-stirrers have been doing on all the boards

Now - here's the real article:
http://www.informationweek.com/story...3171&tid=13692
Titled - Google And Yahoo Don't Block Porn, Government Report Says

This was a study done by the GAO - which for those of you not familiar - is a little accounting office that does studies all year to justify spending money

And it was done on P2P networks - and just happened to look at the built in filters at the SEs just for the fun of it
and they figured out (after a few million dollars) that the SEs filters dont work as well as MSN's - go figure MSN doesnt show porn sites (they contract that out to Nightsurf)

Just an example of how something minor in the news can be turned into a headline to scare the masses

Someone ought to give these guys a lesson in Journalistic responsibility

It makes you read the story. Maybe xbiz is the new drudge report of the adult world. Maybe they took over for Luke Ford.

Linkster, MSN has been showing adult results on it own for several months now, every since they released their revised search interface from beta.

Ledfish - youre correct - my mistake - although to see them you have to change the default settings - if youre Joe average surfer from what I see, they start out with the filtered results - and of course Im a little old so I didnt check to see if they had come out of beta yet :)

Of course, same for AOL. I did'nt think you could get adult results off AOL, unltil, I later stumbled on the checkbox. Ya, Joe surfer probably wont know. Kind of surprizes me, if they have the search results, why not make them public, sure they'd make some good money off it on the PPC end. Unless they want to be family friendly.

Ya, Xbiz sure put a spin on that one.
