Anyone familiar with Hank's Galleries
 

|pcsucks| I"ll make this as short as I can. I was looking at site rankings on sextracker yesterday & signed onto Hank's Galleries. 2 hrs. later, my other 1/2 called me on cell & told me the computer was trying to connect while she was talking. When I got home, I checked & found dozens of files, folders and programs like powerscan, coupons & offers, & more downloaded onto the HD. It even changed my configuration & registry files.The scary part is that at random times the modem is dialing. It even changed my default page on IE. I think I just wiped it out after @ 6 hours of work. It kept regenerating itself. Any feedback or experiences with it. Hell, it has been worse to get rid of than some viruses, and my RAV antivirus never saw it. Pornscan will wipe out porn, which would bury my pc|skull|. Responses and ideas, please

Have you got copies of Adaware or Spybot Search and Destroy?

I doubt that Hank's Galleries would do that. Maybe a gallery on there but Hank's?

That's why I'm asking. The site was cranking & has huge stats. The Galleries were all his, though. Some type of worm. I'll do the adaware & spybot. I just know that was the only site out of the normal ones that I was on yesterday. I'm going to contact him & see what he has to say about it, and I'll report back when he responds.

I bet it ain't got nothing to do with Hank.

There have always been some serious risks in visiting the various sites listed in the top 200 of sextracker. There are some serious pricks jostleing for ranking there. At a minimum keep activex turned off, and surf with maximum security.

I also doubt it's hanks galleries, but I suppose anything's possible. Desperation and competition make people do stupid things.

WRONG: Hank lists galleries and sends decent traffic! I believe I get everyone of my submission listed.


There are a lot of porn-triggered worms around now - who knows where you got it from...

I don't think Hank was the cause at all. It's not his style but there are a lot of cheaters out there so you could have gotten it any where.

I don't submit galleries anymore, but the correspondence I have had with Hank and my perceptions of him and his site are all positive

I have submitted to Hank's Galleries AND Hank's Honeys nearly every day for years and have nothing but good things to say about the guy.

Sometimes spyware that you've picked up off other sites can be triggered by porn links. I've had it happen to me.

Someone also accused my program of popping r@pe sites after this very thing happened to them. Of course I wasn't doing it, and the guy figured out he had some obscure spyware installed and he publically apologized to me on this forum.

Anyway props to Hank. He runs a good site. |cheers|

we post our galleries regularly to Hank's site and he always sends us back great hits, plus. he's always checking up the galleries b4 giving out partner accounts, i think that what happened you is that you opened some gallery he listed that had some BS pop up hell.

the best thing you could do, if possible is to report him which gallery lead you to pop up hell and downloaded all that crap on ur pc.

Hey Xrandog, sorry to hear your compter caught what sounds like an "internet flu"... been a lot going around lately it seems.
Odds are you contracted it before visiting my site... sounds like it was some kind if Spyware hacker program that may have been triggerred when you hit my site.
I'm pretty strict when it comes to giving submission accounts out and with My Script, My Surfers, & MySelf looking over the galleries... it's rare to even find a cheater these days in my links.

I used to blacklist tons of webmasters for popups and weird crap a while back before I got a popup when visiting my own site...
since then, i now run an adware/hacker removing program often on my computer(s) to kill most of that internet garbage before it develops into a full fledged problem.

My advice, get some good adware removing program, i have a link to one called ad-aware at the bottom of my help page which seems to do the trick.
