Dont hit me with the shit "Guns donīt kill..." OMG! Sure, all isnt true that Moore say but anyway! Guns (killing) OK Porn BAD Im sorry..... /Thomas |
Yep, sex is bad guns is good.
Where I live guns are everywhere. I've been a gunshot victim myself. Doesn't make any sense to me at all and no I don't own a gun or have ever handled one. |
The "right of the people to keep and bear arms" has been a fundamental right in this country even before there was a country, a constitution, and a 2nd amendment. Changing that is next to impossible.
|
So you are going to use your guns to protect yourself from who or what?
I guess if I lived out in the country I would like want a gun, not sure if I would want a big gun or a cute little gun, in case like a bear or an alligator tried to eat me but I live in a city by the ocean. The only thing that ever eats people here is sharks but only if you go in the water and I don't think that I've ever heard of a gun helping in a shark attack. The risk of me being eaten by a wild animal is remarkable low for me. I guess I could go over to the Everglades and go alligator hunting or something but I'm a vegetarian so I'm not sure what I would do with a dead alligator that I shot. Anyway I would be covered with mosquito bites form being an idiot and standing in the middle of a swamp hunting alligators all red and swollen itching everywhere. |
I choose not to have any guns in the house. I used to have a couple of hunting rifles, but I no longer hunt so I gave them to my Dad the last time I moved.
My point was that the concept of right to bear arms is so firmly embeded that there's little chance of doing much to change that. |
I guess back then having villagers armed with weapons protected their freedom.
Wow can you imagine if they had planes, tanks, and nukes? The crazy ones down in Miami would be setting off nukes for new year's eve instead of just killing each other by shooting their guns up in the air at midnight. |
hmmm the 1st amendment gives us freedom of speech too but i don't see that happening anymore.
|
I have a squirt gun.. does that count?
:D |

The difference here is that freedom of speech is an abstract concept that isn't easily defined. On the other hand "the right to keep and bear arms" is pretty cut and dry. |

Sure he does, but his comes in various sizes and can be stored in a draw.

I'm not someone who could be called a 'gun person', but the more insane this government becomes, the more I understand what our fore-fathers were talking about. And that scares me.
|
Well, look at it this way...we need loose gun laws so all the porn webmasters can protect themselves against those Christian groups that will be picketing in front of our homes.
btw, if you read the CNN ticker at the bottom of the screen and it reads, "Porn webmasters opens up a hail of gunfire at Christian protestors that surrounded his house"...umm...that'll be me :D |

The bill of rights is all or nothing.
Compromise one law you compromise them all. dont have to be a gun nut to understand that. Give them an inch they'll take a mile. I do not own a gun but i cherish the right to do so. I would fight for that right. I will vote for that right. It was the design of this nation to make sure that each and every person could defend their city against invaders of any types, their homes, their families. I agree with that. while i also agree times have changed and the danger is less real, less likely, its always a possibility. People do still come into homes and I think its important for them to consider they could get shot in the process. I do regret that it was a right included in the bill of rights, but it is, so i defend it :( 10 amendments, not 9. dont want them to change that or who knows what else becomes changeable. |

I've been in a pawn shop in Washington, DC that had 2 uzies for sale. I understand the right to bare arms and I also know that guns will no longer protect us against oppression. That's why the fight for free speech is so important. The same groups that fight for the right to bare arms are often the same groups that fight to destroy your right to free speech. |

So you will be using your guns to stop the tanks, planes, missiles, lasers, robotic crawlers, and all the other high tech power that our government has I guess, good luck.
Guns today are about as useful as bow and arrows were a few hundred years ago. Sure you can get off a few shots but then you are going to be vaporized. |
Who says the guys that drive the "tanks, planes, missiles, lasers, robotic crawlers, and all the other high tech power" will be on the government's side. And yes...I hate to say it but the people fighting the US in Iraq seem to be doing a good job with less fire power than we would have.

There is a very cool site where a man tests various loads against "real stuff" to see what happens:

How about this - you can now buy an MP3 player for your Kalashnikov - http://www.audiobooksforfree.com/kalashnikov/Ak-mp3.asp
on a serious note - Switzerland is awash with guns, and I mean awash - that's why the government can't make any changes to the Swiss constitution without a referendum - and gun crime is virtually non existent here. |
