Do any of you like country music?
Well, first, I'd like to say that the last country music CD I bought was an Alabama CD years and years ago. I'm not a big country music fan. In fact, I would have labeled myself "not a country music fan."
One night when I couldn't sleep, I caught a rerun of "The Tonight Show" and a band called Sugarland. I was so impressed with the song "Something More" that they performed I ordered the "Twice the Speed of Life" CD. I love it. |thumb For those of you with a more purient interest...the lead singer is a serious blonde babe! |waves
I once went to a Willie Nelson concert and a guy poured beer in my lap. ;)
It's getting harder and harder to distinguish country music today from mainstream pop. It's more like pop with a twang. |
Agree that Jennifer is pretty hot looking :)
I also was pretty impressed with Dido - she's not country but still an excellent voice and everything else :) |
I also once went to a Willie Nelson concert, but luckily, my lap remained unassailed. :)
You're right on it being "pop with a twang," though. However, I disliked crying into my beverage, which is what older country seemed to want the listener to do. |
I'm not a fan of country music. Although I can respect and listen to older stuff like Johnny Cash. That shit they play on CMT is putrid.
the closest to country I get is The Band, and as far as I know that band was composed of guys from New York and Canadians. Oddly enough, they have a lot of songs about the south. |
i just realized that i like it because of the american idol winner.. :)

New country music: lame, super lame... as bad and as prepackaged as The Backstreet Boys
Old Country Music: Super cool. There is an infommercial here that sells cds with oldschool country music, and that is some of the best shit I've ever heard. Elvis country is pretty good, too. |
for me country song is very relaxing to listen to & i love all of kenny roger's songs.

ADK - they (the Band) were really the beginning of the "pop country" kinda revolution that started back then - although if I remember correctly they were the Hawks and they were backing Bob Dylan when he shocked the world with the "electric" performance :) - I think theyve probably had more different members go through that band than any other I can remember - if you get a chance to see the movie - The Last Waltz - check it out :)

I like Hank Williams Sr.... thats about it for country.

Thanks Linkster, I never knew that film existed...and it's directed by Martin Scorsese. Nice!

I like some songs of Tim McGraw
|
Well, I have to admit I kinda like some of the new country.
The sad sorry state of r&r today has left a musical void and that has kinda filled it a bit. Oh, I like bands like staind, 3dd, rammenstein, etc but nothing new has come out in the past few years and some of country has evolved into a nice combo of rock/country/blues. You just gotta sift thru some crap for it. Save a horse, ride a cowboy!! Hmm..I smell a niche.. |mml
I love Tim McGraw's music in fact I've watched one of his concert tours with his wife before. |bow|
|
I like it sometimes.. my all time favorite is musicals, funny huh? ;)
