OK, I'm checking out Link Share. What do you use them for? Which sponsors? What products? What are the ratios like? How about payout ratios?

I'm currently working on a portal to promote a wide range of sponsors.

There are so many sponsors to choose from it will take a while to decide which to try. Payouts vary from sponsor to sponsor depending on their product or service. Diversify and create sites for individual sponsors. Use SEO to get some targeted traffic. Interlink the mainstream sites together to share/filter the traffic and create your own PR. Some sponsors payouts are good enough to use google adwords pay per click to get traffic. Though these can already be quite competitive, so think of more obscure/less competitive search terms to bid on.

I'm still very new at this and still trying to get good traffic. Not the same as adult, traffic is much harder to come by, reciprocal links are harder to get, and other mainstream webmasters are not very helpfull. They dont want to share their secrets.

P.S. an interesting feature of sponsors at Linkshare is most use tracking cookies that last 30 days or more. So if a surfer clicks from your site and likes what they see but holds off on a purchase to think about it for a while, you still get credit for the sale.
