.html
Trying to mirror my hubs index. My index is .htm wondering how to make the mirrior .html?
Or is thier a better way to do it? |
I'm not really sure if I understand the question...are you asking how to copy the existing file to a new file?

No, how do I change the extension to .html as opposed to .htm When I create the index, Dreamweaver creates it as index.htm.
|
when saving, click 'save as' instead of save, then add the l to htm
|
Well dont I feel like a big dumb karp!

You can do as Trev said above but for future reference...
In DW, from the menu, select "Edit" then select "Perferences". In the window that opens highlight "New Document" and under "Default extension" there should be more info about how to change the default extension permanently. It's probably easier to just follow Trev's instructions though...:) Regards, SF |
I don't use editors but you can type any extension you like htm html shtml dhtml etc simple and easy in notepad. |jackinthe

yes this is very very easy like everyone is saying. One thing forgot here tho. Is you need to make sure you can see the extension of the file first.
Open My computer, go to tools, options, view, uncheck "hide extentions for known file types" Once you do this all you ever have to do is right click your file and go to rename it. just remove the extention and make it what you want. Keep in mind that in doing so you may not get the file to operate correctly, but then you can always change it back and it will work. |
In the dreamweaver 'save file' popup you can enter any extension you want. The default setting can be configured in your "edit preferences" dialog, but you can manually enter anything when saving the file. just save as "thisfile.html" instead of just "thisfile" and letting dreamweaver add the extension :)
