why can't you edit posts??

I am trying to edit a post I made and it shows no options to edit.

I suppose you cannot edit posts after a certain time period which is completely stupid and pointless.

You've got an hour to edit the post - this should be more than enough time to fix a typo or something like that.

Jim 2005-07-13 09:30 AM

An hour seems too long to me. :)

Torn Rose 2005-07-13 09:54 AM

1 hour is why too long, 5-15 minutes is more then enough time to edit for typos, it keeps the assholes from saying one thing and going back and editing the post and then say they never said the first post.

Besides, what is so hard about making a new post?

Fonz 2005-07-13 10:03 AM

50% of your posts are completely stupid and pointless so far....

Cleo 2005-07-13 10:05 AM

A 1 hour time limit on editing posts is completely pointless. You should be able to edit your posts at all times.

|waves|

If I am posting in the classified section for example than I must be able to UPDATE INFORMATION based on my listing when it changes.

Either that or I can bug a moderator to do it for me?

What wrong with posting an update in your thread?

Exactly. Post a reply to your thread under it like everyone else does.

Useless 2005-07-13 11:01 AM

Fuck, I'd never have the post count that I have today if I edited every post. Besides, no matter how much I edit, I still sound like an ass.

Little person desirous of editing...you do realize that creating a new post highlights your thread, kicks it up higher on the list and sends out an email to everyone who's participated in the thread, don't you?

Because I don't want it to be public knowledge.

I just want my post edited. Whats the big issue.

Exacly what I was going to say.
One hour seems like plenty of time. It does keep people from posting things they really don't mean. You can't unring the bell.

Jel 2005-07-13 02:26 PM

If you don't want it to be public knowledge why are you posting the info on a public forum?

Just wondering :)

wickedworks 2005-07-13 02:33 PM

Because I posted the wrong info. Is that alright with you?

Next someone will ask me to pay to edit a post.

Jel 2005-07-13 02:38 PM

Yeah, that's alright with me :) Go ahead and edit your post.
