Morning/Afternoon all,

Too damn hot here today to function normally. Ofcourse with those 10 sunny days we have each year there isn't an AC around in miles... pfff
Have a hot day all.

Simon 2005-07-14 08:02 AM

Mornin' all :)

I empathize with you, Torn, next week I take my very better half to the airport so she can go visit her sister and mother in California for two weeks. All alone and unloved soon here too. ;)

Most of the day will be getting the next batch of free sites ready for release, and working on what should be today's newsletter unless it winds up being tomorrow's.

Comcast cable comes this morning to replace a box fried during the storm. Kona coffee and pastries to get things started.

Simon

Not real awake yet, ingesting espresso as I type.

Just another day of continuing to clean up my link list for me.

A couple of years ago, my wife's employer sent her to a class for two weeks and I was amazed at how lonely I was. I had a ton of trouble sleeping in the empty bed, so I made my kids bunk with me.

Anyway, it's another morning and I'll be damned - I made it through another night. The coffee, it is a' brewing.

Greenguy 2005-07-14 09:05 AM

Good Thursday Peoples! |waves|

I've got to get a lot of work done today as I have this feeling that I'm going to be very scarce until Monday (possible dinner here tomorrow, Dad's surprise 60th birthday party on Saturday, couch testing on Sunday)

Fucking summer weekends :D

Sarah_Jayne 2005-07-14 09:05 AM

I'm feeling really burnt out. I'm not sure if I even should try to work at the computer today or get some time away from the glowing computer screen in.

Ramster 2005-07-14 09:55 AM

Good Morning. Major lightning here last night for hours. I thought I was in a scene from The Day After Tomorrow. What a sight.

Torn
My wife is taking the kids to visit our parents next week on Friday for 10 days. You have it all wrong. They do love me and the reason I'm not going. Think of it as a vacation for ME. (Once you have kids you'll understand) :D

MindyBlingBucks 2005-07-14 10:03 AM

Good morning. ..

Cleo, I take it you don't eat bacon then? Are you a vegetarian? Vegan? Do you like turkey bacon!? :D

I'm real close to being a vegan. I eat some dairy products like cheese and butter but that is about it, no flesh at all.

When I was just a young pup, I lived on a hill above a pig farm. I never noticed any odors, but the screaming of the pigs as they were hoisted by their hind legs above the blood kettle on slaughter days was a tad disturbing. (But I do love bacon, so I learned to deal with it. I'm not fond of ham though.)

ArtWilliams 2005-07-14 10:09 AM

Good morning smut peddlers!

pornrex 2005-07-14 10:13 AM

Good Morning,
If you can call it that...|dizzy| Couldn't sleep when I was supposed to, then, couldn't wake up when I was supposed to... :(
Anyhow, after brekkie and some coffee, I should be good to go once again.

Just the mention of that movie scares the holy shit outta me.

Speaking of scared shitless, there's a radioshow here in Toronto on AM 640, and it ascribes to just about every conspiracy theory known to humanity.

A couple of nights ago I heard that Osama has initiated a terrorist network that is operating out of Latin America up to Mexico where terrorists are smuggling suitcases full of explosives and arbitrarily planting them in various cities across the US. It seems that he has issued a decree and I loosely quote here, in saying that: "America must lose 2 million adults and 2 million children for their impudence" in the next little while. The US State Department apparently did not even DENY that this was taking place and offered no further explanation when contacted!

My question to you is this: why doesn't the US try to stop this and bomb the fuck outta these freaks?

Sorry for getting so intense so early in the morning but I've got family in Indiana, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio and California and just hearing about this stuff has stressed me out alot in the past few days. |shocking|

Toby 2005-07-14 10:16 AM

No bacon for me, at least not until I've been vertical for a couple of hours. Just coffee. I'll follow Simon's lead and have a couple of LARGE cuppa's of kona blend. Maybe I'll be human enough by the time I've finished them to read his newsletter.

Who? Stopping the attacks on the U.S. is far simpler than acquiring new targets and attempting to destroy them. We simply need to pull out of the Middle East and allow them to conduct their lives as they wish. There's no big mystery here. All they ever wanted was for us to leave them alone. Bet ya $10 that oil prices would drop too.

Cleo 2005-07-14 10:27 AM

We need to just nuke Canada.

Either that or what UW said.

pornrex 2005-07-14 11:17 AM

As you may or may not be aware, Toronto is a multi-cultural melting pot. And since I have lived here for the majority of my life, I have made several friends from different nationalities. Some of them are even muslims too. And the way they talk about the situation in the middle east is that they are happy that there is an American presence there. Most of these middle eastern rulers have autocratic and dictatorial tendencies, which involve romantic notions to rule the world. They have no regard for what the Quoran was 'really' all about and they have felt that America has threatened the progression of the "Islamic" movement for a very long time. Apparently, these radical leaders believe that they must make the world muslim and that they don't have much time to do so. Ask any Christian or Jew that used to live in these predominant muslim countries and they will tell you they were mistreated far worse than anyone of us could ever imagine.

I had this Iraqi friend who is Roman Catholic and was quite affluent actually while living there just northwest of Baghdad. In the last 15 years, the government of Iraq had managed to seize all of his land (and not via tax evasion or any other bullshit) but it was just because he wasn't muslim actually, and most of his liquid assets that he had had in various Banks of Iraq; basically they told him to get the fuck out or die. He even went on to say that the Jews of Iraq were not even given time to leave in most cases.

My point is this: dictators and autocrats don't give a fuck about the Western world nor our way of life or various free lifestyles. As a matter of fact, they see our various way of life as a threat to their OWN existence and mandate! And the middle east is not the only extremist society out there that feels this way, by the way.

Why should the US leave the middle east? Why should these assholes be allowed to build momentum for a cause that threatens to shatter YOUR very existence? Let me give an example below of the muslim mandate and what they are capable of doing to a free living society.

When Islamic Turks seized control of Constantinople and the rest of Greece in 1453, they plunged the Greeks into a dark-age period that forced the people of Greece to be Turkish slaves. All the beautiful youth were forced to marry powerful muslim "dictators" or their family members, or suffer death, ridicule, persecution or torture. Any and all wealth or assets had to be transferred over to the Emirs or Effendis of Turkey and essentially for the next 368 years the Greeks had to be ruled by the Turks on their own soil. Over time, the crown jewel city of Constantinople became Istanbul, churches were desecrated, people beheaded, assets seized, and eventually, the complete expulsion of a people from what is now Western Turkey back into mainland Greece, forever lamenting not taking action against the Turks when they were still small enough to be conquered. All this happened because the once powerful Greek Empire chose to ignore an up and coming radical movement and let them build momentum and eventually get overthrown and ruled by these outsiders. This is what happens when a "free" western society chooses to do nothing and allow another more fanatic group to grow, prosper and take pot shots at us.

I, personally, hope that an American presence is never removed from the middle east. America represents freedom, not just here in America, but also for the little people around the globe that are oppressed everyday of their poor little lives. As long as there is still an America, people are safe, everywhere. IF America ever goes down, remember what I told you about what happened to Greece in 1453.

Just take it over but keep the same gun laws. I'd prefer the lower taxes, lower gas prices and cheaper alcohol. It's $30-36 for 24 beer here.
