How important is the teen category?
Interested in hearing from both LL owners and submitters on this one. |waves|
I haven't added a teen category to the LL I'm building, because the word may have legal ramifications (read: gov't scrutiny) down the road. Plus I hate those "teen" sites where they make the girl look 12. I figured people could just submit their teen sites to the appropriate hair color or ethnic group, or petites. But if submitters are targetting a teen sponsor, that might not work for them so well - I don't know. Of course there would be SEO benefits from using the teen keyword as well.... I don't like it though. |shocking| |pink Decisions, decisions.....What do y'all think? |
I don't have one either and just put them in babe or amateur depending.

You could still have the teen category....just make it as: teengirls 18+ or something like that. But most importantly, when you review sites, use your best judgement on the content shown on whether or not to accept that particular site in.

I am also building a LL but i have the Teen category, i am just going to be very careful on what kind of teen content is listed. I might change it to babes in time. Btw, i can really use some trades to help my LL going. Hope i didn't just thread jack.

I still have a "Teens" cat with no plans to change :)

On the submits I get to my LL the problem is reversed; people try passing mid-20s chicks off as teens.

A clarification on my teens cat I don't list girls that look under 18 or over 19. How do I know? 10 years of reviewing for one. Plus my eyes still work |bow
Think it's more of a moral issue, wheither "you" want to have a teen catagory or not. Teen is a very popular catagory, but not the only one, you can make money without it.
It's your site, it's up to you...:) ronnie |
Thanks for the responses :) I'm happy to see I'm not the only one with mixed feelings about this.
I would still like to hear from submitters though. While reviewing sites so far, I've been putting teen sites in petites or brunettes, etc. But I've seen some that would just honestly be better off in teens - that's what the sponsor's about. For those who've tried it, do you get decent sales results when you put your teen site in a category like petites? After all, the whole point of submitting to link lists is targetted traffic, right? BTW, whether I have this particular category or not, I'm simply not going to list those underage-looking sites, and will state it quite clearly on my submission page. That's not something I even have to consider.Yuck. |badidea
I dont think I would let my own "feelings" get in the way of making money :) teens has always been a good category on a LL - one of the highest paying and highest searched in the SE's. There are plenty of teen paysites, HFS's etc to fill a category and take submits - you just have to be careful not to accept certain "types" - Ive always had a rule against any site that uses the word "young" on a teen site - some others (Richards comes to mind) just call it something else - Young Ladies - but I think if I had the time I would add as many targetted niches as I could - it will pay off down the road.

Good points, Linkster (as usual :) ). The pros outweigh the cons, especially since it is only my uncertainty getting in the way. I added the category, and will see how it goes. If I get too many dubious submissions down the road, I can always delete it.
Thanks for all the input, everyone! It's much appreciated. |bow
