Testing TopSite
 

I've installed and (I believe) configured the GB Top-Directory script at http://www.webrotica.com/bestrotica/

but I'm not totally convinced that it's working. That might be because it's not working ... or simply because there's a limit to how well you can test your own toplist with your own links.

Any other newbies willing to add their sites and test it out? Please? I do have traffic ready to divert to this toplist, but don't want to do that until I'm sure the logic and flow is correct. So you will get some traffic from it in due course :)

I especially am not sure about how this script counts incoming traffic - from the whole domain, or just from the URL containing the backlink? I have it set up to use category-specific backlinks but being cookied by the system may be confusing what I see now when adding further sites. Needs some fresh eyes, fresh PC, fresh sites ...

I have it set on hourly refreshes during this test, and will do it manually more often if I see things starting to happen.

Again, this is not a request for comment on layout, etc, I just need to know that it's working the way it should before spending more time on it.

Mmmh - been away a couple of days, get back, no takers?

I see a few clicks out being counted, but they're to my own category pages and I'm not sure (how) the software handles clicks coming in from within the same domain.

Maybe I should have made it clearer I'm not looking for free traffic. I'd just be v v grateful if a couple of people would add their sites and send a couple of clicks - even just one would be ok. Wait for the refresh and see if your clicks are being counted. Tell me if not (though I'll be monitoring anyway).

Then stop sending traffic if you want. I just need to get a 3rd party confirmation that everything is working before I promote the list and start sending traffic to it.
