Mac question to Cleo
Cleo,
I hope you know where to find that AltiVec Enabler 1.0... the guy installed the hardware (zif processor and max ram that is plus a cd/dvd reader and writer) and had to come back a few times because my poor old G3 just got slower. Finally I gave up on him today and found out I need the powerlogix cpu director (still on OS9) so I downloaded it and bang.. now we are talking speed :) But I still couldn't install OSX tho you sent me that program and he bought an installer on dvd... but forgot about that we should back up my hd first before installing the new OS.. I bet he is in love :) So if you happen to know where to find AltiVec Enabler 1.0 please help. |waves| |
Isn't that for Mac Classic, why would you need it for Mac X?
Anyway, that and just about another else can be found at www.versiontracker.com ttp://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/7454 |
I was told I need it... they were wrong :) I got it and installed it and it crashed my mac several times... hope no more probs for a while. Thanks!

Mac X should never have a crash requiring a reboot.

Can't wait.. but I have to :) He brought me the installer on a dvd (Tiger) but forgot about helping me with backing up my hd first... and the installer reformats the hd first and creates two partitions... you know that better :)

The old G3 machines will not boot off of anything bigger then 8 gigs so that is why it first needed to formate the drive into a 8 gig partition and whatever was left over.

Wow.. you are a real pro, thanks :)
