I know it's the DA or some bearucrat but jesus, what the fuck is this wolrd coming to?

"Charbel Hamaty spent six months in prison before the charges were dropped"

"Charbel Hamaty was charged with sexually assaulting his newborn son"

pictures showed the new born son "getting a kiss from his father on the belly button"

Unfortunately that story was incorrect in that they watered it down for the locals - the pictures actually showed him kissing the boys penis and that is what (in addition to the fact that his work visa from Lebanon had expired) got him thrown in jail - the only reason he got out of it is that they were able to prove that kissing their sons penis's is a normal show of affection in Lebanon.

What a crazily misconstrued situation. And I find it interesting that the newer article changed the placement of the kiss from his groin area to his stomach.

Maybe they figured no one would understand that kissing a babies genitals (along with every other part of the baby's body) is another culture's sign of affection?

Crazy world we live in. You really can't blame the Eckerd's employee though. They're told to report such things, and I wouldn't expect your typical photo guy/gal to know Lebanese customs.

Talking to folks that live in south makes it seem like being Lebanese would be reason enough to throw him jail. I'm sure he spent some hard time.
