How many stories per site??

Link list owners....how many stories do I need on a free site? I've looked around and haven't seen any requirements like the requirements for pics.

It depends on the length. I don't consider one or two paragraphs a story.

If they are "WELL" written and a "full" page in length then 3-4 per page. It's like movies...you need a certain length of movies per page...same with stories.

2msacras 2005-08-18 10:33 AM

the stories I have in mind are deccent...better written than a lot I've seen online but I wouldn't call them well written. And the lenght is deccent. Not exactly a full blown plot but it's more than "guy meets girl, guy has sex with girl, the end."

Surfn 2005-08-18 10:38 AM

Sounds like they would work :)

2msacras 2005-08-18 10:41 AM

I hope so...I dont want to give away the best stories for free

stuveltje 2005-08-18 12:58 PM

i made story sites , i used 10 pages with one story a page about 2500 words a story

2msacras 2005-08-18 01:00 PM

to tell the truth I never though about doing it that way...but for some of my better stories, the stories, I bleed and sweat for, the ones I've written I think I might try it

What about using "previews" of stories on a freesite? Maybe enough to gain the reader's interest, say the first chapter, but not the whole story - for that, they'd have to pay? Or maybe prequels - setup events for the main story, again with enough in them to make folks want to read the whole thing? It wouldn't really be any different from using clips of a full length movie as teasers, I think.

Would that work on a freesite?

Rob.

I can always use story site submissions, and there's a bit of a range as far as acceptable amount of content in my mind.

I regularly list sites with 3 or 4 "gallery" pages, each containing 800-1200 words. They can be different stories, chapters of the same story...it really depends heavily on the actual content of a given site. Too much more than that, and IMO you're giving away too much for free. Stories are a hard sell anyway.

As long as whatever's there isn't full of grammatical errors, has actual porn in it and doesn't cut off somewhere that makes no sense, you've got some latitude with me. You could do 3 or 4 "teasers" each at 800-1200 words and each continued on the paysite, as long as the stories are actually there :)

mmmm i dont agree with giving away to much, did you ever do story sites? i even submitted galleries 10 pages with stories to the hun, on every page different links to sponsors and it sells( the hun loves those and it dont burn bandwidth its all text), now give 10 pages with content then you give away to much, stories is different:)

I actually submited to your site today, my story free site.

My theory is that instead of trying to sell the story paysites (which didnt work too well for me in the past) I'm trying to promote other things

same here, i had an storyblog and i could sell all kind of things there of sponsor stuff but no story sponsors, same on the galleries and free ssites, so i think indeed its better to not use story sponsors but other sponsors ( if the story sponsors dont sell)

If you write your own stories, why not take a photo set and write a story that relates to it. Include 10 pics and you have a killer gallery. Not something you see everyday either.

I've started to work on trying to figure out what sells.

I like that idea...kind of thought of something similar once

i have questions regarding this and would like imput if possible or opinions...

we have 3 or 4 really nice stories written specifically for photosets from our paysite. they are about 1K words written in blocks of 100 words.

using this format.. can i submit freesites using the full story of 1000+ words plus 10 pictures .. 5 on each gallery with 5 blocks of text per gallery page.. sort of illustrated stories.

OR

Should i just put partial stories in and use the full 10 per gallery pics?

i know this has been addressed on several occassions but there was never a true definitive answer that I could find.

Thanks in advance... |cool|

I would rather see the full story with fewer pics. Since the site is revolving around the story, I'd say focus on that. The pics are nice but optional :)

I do this on most of the sites I submit, lol. But I do short stories, just enough to describe the scene. Making me think I should do longer stories, it is easier for me to write the stories than design. :)

MadMax 2005-10-28 08:11 AM

I always need more story sites. I never have to decline anything from either one of you. Get to work. :D

Surfn 2005-10-28 08:24 AM

They don't necessarily require pics, but in my experience a few well placed pics in a story increases signups tremendously :D
