Question about AOL users
I had a couple of people canceling and giving the reason "problems with movies/videos"
But I couldn't figure it out and today a guy actually called me and told me what was happening and when I asked him to view the movies with IE or moozila it was fine they played. But in his AOL browser it would prompt him for the user/pass info when he clicked the movie link and when he entered it it would redirect him back to the index of the members site. I don't know anything about AOL does anyone know why this happens? As he didn't know until I asked him to try IE. Thanks people :) |rock| |
Assuming these are wmv files - have them check to make sure that the "Use AOL Media Player" check box in the AOL toolbar settings is unchecked - and another media player is installed (like Windows media player) - thats all I can think of unless they are running AOLs full blown protection software and have a blocking call thats being triggered

AOL users are a tough bunch. You would be amazed at how many "mY NAME IS jOHN sMITH AND MY PASSWORD DOESN'T WORK" emails I get.
You pretty much need to use MPEG-1 format for movies or provide a lot of detail to your members about using them. Also put a visible link at the top of the page that allows the surfer to find help information. |
Ok thanks guys :)

But not nearly as bad as WebTV users in terms of usability and weird emails. |
