Server change = automatically blacklisted?

Hi!

After reading a little bit about this server change/blacklist thing, I'd like to know if it's ok to change a server - coz I'm going to change my server sooner or later.
Only changes that will be is another ip address.

Cheers,

sun

If you know your sites are going to be down email the places that they are listed and let them know the deal :)

In theory, as long as you are leaving your old host on good terms & youhave everything uploaded to the new host when you make the DNS changes, you should experience no downtime at all.

If you do have downtime & we get "no dns" error message, your sites will be removed, but not blacklisted.

If you don't have everything uploaded to the new server & we get 404's, you will be blacklisted.

There's way too many variables - LOL

that's all good but... not all places email or notify the webmaster that they've been listed and most webmasters don't have the time to go through each lister site to see if they were successful!

Then they deserve to be blacklisted IMO... A professional webmaster knows exactly who lists their sites.. and when and how much traffic they recieve. If you blindy submit and never check how do you know you are being listed at all.???

I know I have idiots that submit that sort of crap to me.. and have done every day for >12 mths.. and never been listed... thats just an insane waste of time and resources.

Well said DDave

Why waste your time submitting to a LL if you never get listed or any traffic? Unless you use an auto submitter, it seems you would be wasting your time if you never check to see if you are listed and if you are getting any benefit from the listing - just plain silly
