Some thoughts about submitting free sites

I've been submitting free sites for a few years and cant help but notice the increasing amount of older link lists that have open submissions but never even look at your site. If you look around it doesnt take long to se that alot of the older sites are consolidating and listing their own network of friends sites which is understandable, if not dissapointing for the webmasters that helped grow their site with quality sites. (yes some submitters actually take their time to build decent sites) but to leave your submit script open with the intention of never even considering the site is pathetic. If you want to abandon your submitters then remove your submit page and stop leeching linkbacks and traffic from honest webmasters. /rant

When I submit to new LL, I generally submit only a few free sites, then see if I get listed within a couple weeks, if not, then I scratch that LL off my list and move on.

That's what I do too!

It takes a little longer updating you list, but it's worth it compared to keep submitting to LL that doesn't list you.

One thing to check is that the submit script is really open or if there is something in the rules that would keep you from getting listed - I know I see people submitting every day that have obviously not read my rules - and they dont get listed - but they just keep submitting away. You would think that after two months they would figure it out :)
