You won't be disapointed with Sparky. I have yet to have to use support other than something I did myself :) We just never go down.

Cleo 2005-09-13 09:42 AM

I didn't mention Colo-Cation because he seemed to be wanting cheap hosting instead of quality hosting.

You do get what you pay for, especially in hosting.

kalle7 2005-09-13 10:09 AM

Thanks T Pat, Jim and Cleo for the Colo-Cation link and recomendations. I have looked at their website and their offers and it looks good. Will contact them and see what they have to say.

Rocketflow: I tested your support response and it is not what I am looking for.

Cash: Thanks for the tips, but those are not good for me.

Thanks again everybody! |thumb

You are right Cleo but...for $100 more than his original quote, he does get the best hosting I have ever seen. And, you know Cleo and everyone else with Sparky, I am not just blowing smoke. I don't know about anyone else but I have had 0 problems. The thing with colo-cation.com is Sparky has software that looks for problems before they arise. Great support is a wonderful thing but, it's even better when you don't need support :) If I ever do need support with colo-cation, I will let you know how quick they are :)

Cleo 2005-09-13 11:07 AM

I too can not say enough good things about Colo-Cation.

The absolutely best tech support that I have ever had or ever seen. Chris (cd34, Sparky) really knows his shit and is always willing to help.

But if that wasn't enough then knowing that you are hosted in a facility that is almost impossible to bring down due to a power failure or any kind of disaster lets me sleep soundly at night knowing that me servers aren't going to go down.
From Colo-Cation's website
Quote:

Dual Independent Power Feeds
Chilled water facility shared with Government facilities
160,000 gallons of Diesel Fuel for generator, Fuel contracts guarantee delivery every 8 hours during an outage.
Facility was designed from the ground up specifically to connect the Americas to the rest of the world
Rooftop has windscreens, 8" of structural concrete, multiple layers of rubber membrane, and 12 million pounds of concrete ballast.
Pan and Tilt Cameras throughout with 100% coverage. Key card and biometric access.
Ramming Bollards to prevent intrusions via vehicles
Caged Car-traps and man-traps at every entrance
Security Guards continually walking throughout the facility. ID required at all times
Power Distribution equipment, Six Backup Generators -- only two are required to fulfill the power requirements, HVAC units and Fire Suppression systems guarantee 100% facilities uptime.

Solid reliable hosting inside a building that makes Fort Knox look like a wooden bus shelter.

Colo-cation.com

kalle7 2005-09-13 01:20 PM

Yeah, I gotta admit that I was surprised a couple of times when I read the description of their location. Even car-traps and man-traps.. lol - that sounds like a bad neighbourhood lol

I have tried to get in contact with someone at the company, but no response yet. I guess that the sales department is not open yet.

Cleo 2005-09-13 01:25 PM

It is almost in downtown Miami. It's not the best part of town but nothing too bad. From what I understand some of the root domain servers are in this build and a good deal of the switches for South America so that is one of the reasons for the heavy security and diesel backup generators.

Chris who posts as cd34 on this board owns it. He usually is almost always on ICQ but is not showing online this morning. ICQ him 20164730, I'm sure he will be online before the end of the day.

kalle7 2005-09-13 03:03 PM

I sent him an ICQ earlier today about contacting me, but I guess he is out of office. Is he alone at the company or do you know if there other people working there in support functions?

It's not just him. He has employees in Europe too. I'm sure he'll be with you very soon.

kalle7 2005-09-13 04:36 PM

Welcome to the club Kalle7, I'll give you a hot tip, get to know Brian too he works Friday through to Monday morning, he's a bright kid and seems to really enjoy solving the problems I bring on myself by constantly installing and deleting scripts

Cleo 2005-09-13 09:30 PM

Colo-Cation is getting one hell of a porn sandwich in their racks. :D

cd34 2005-09-13 09:51 PM

Hehe...I must be a breeze compared to people like you. :D

Honestly, I went from killing a dedicated box elsewhere down to a virtual account at Colo a few months ago and it feels like an upgrade instead of a downgrade.

terry 2005-09-20 07:52 AM

You can also try ProHosted. I have been doing business with him for a while now and I have not one bad thing to say. Email kris @ prohosted .net and he'll fix you up. If he asks, tell him Terry sent you. :D
