Gallery conversions compared to Free Sites?
 

Anyone build both free sites and galleries and could comment on the conversion rates between the two?

Does one convert better than the other? Do you just have to "hit the mark" with the gallery to succeed?

Any and all input welcome here.

I build both, and see better conversions with freesites, which I think is the 'norm'. As stated many times before, although ratios are certainly a part of things, don't get *too* hung up on them, overall sales are what counts. A good freesite that also gets good SERPS will probably make more sales and give you a better ratio, but a well done gallery can bring in 8 or more sales in the relatively short time it is 'live' at TGPs (although you can still do ok in the SERPS too generating longer term sales).

I pretty much still suck at galleries, I've not been doing them for TGPs that long and as focused as I'm trying to do so now, so my sales are still a long way off what experienced gallery builders can make. Hell, my free sites aren't exactly brilliant lol, but yeah, generally the conversion rates are better on freesites, due to a number of things like targetted SE traffic, more space and allowed text to sell the sponsor, longer live listings at LLs that do well in the SES, etc.

I am seeing things improving though, so if you have the time (and lets face it, a few changes to a freesite gallery to fit TGP rules and that type of surfer doesn't take *that* long) then I'd say give it a shot :)
