Bandwidth, how much?
 

I know theres a lot of factors involved, but does anyone have a good estimate on how much BW a freesite might use?

A single freesite? I wouldn't have a clue, but the question is too general to be answered anyway. Pics or movies? How many LLs do you submit to? Are you accepted by most of the biggies? Are you talking about the first day after submit, the first week, annually or indefinetely?

ya that question is too hard to answer.

Let's see I started submitting free sites regularly Sept 12. Checked out my bandwidth usage and I'm at almost 2 gigs. I'm only using images right now no movies.

And that's submitting too places like link-o-rama, penisbit, tommy's, richards, etc, etc.

Why are you concerned about bandwidth anyways? You can always upgrade your host to accomadate more bandwidth as you grow your business.

Just make sure your images are optimized I don't go over 50 kb for images. And don't go over 5kb for your thumbs.

There's a huge difference between bandwidth and transfer and you guys are talking about transfer.

It all depends on to how many LL's you submit, which LL's, etc.
For me personally I do about 2-5 Gig per freesite in the first month after it got submitted.

I don't know the differance, but I think Fonz gave me the answer I was looking for.

I'm just looking for an estimate on how many sites I should chance. I've got it to burn and wanted to know "ballpark" what to expect per site.

I'm new at this, had a spike the other night of over 5k unique 40k page visits and over 4.5gig BW in 6 hours, I thought I only had 5gig of bw, and got nervious, turns out thats less than 1.5% of my available so the question became mute.

And why do the sponsers even bother to tell us that "no problem" on re-visit's we set a 30 day cookie! - I clean my cookies almost as often as my cookie gets cleaned! |golf
