I've found thousands of redirects in my stats for various f*skering URL's. I presume my bandwidth is being slaughtered. Do I change my .htaccess or what? |angry|

Yup... I send them to tubgirl. It is amazing how quickly my pages get removed when I do that.

Unless they're actually downloading images from you simple redirects aren't going to effect your band width much at all. I've had 15,000 hits from fusker and less then a gig of band width.

The worst part of fusker is when they are downloading large numbers of image from a single site (say 20 or 30 images at a shot) because they link to the full image, not the thumbs.

So say 50k per image, 30 times... 1500k per shot... 1000 times... you can figure it out.

Selena, I tell ya - my fusker listing are VERY short lived. tubgirl tends to turn people off of surfing for porn entirely for the night, which is the objective. Fusker's service needs to be undermined and made effectively worthless (similar to newsgroups these days) to make it all but impossible for people to get the free porn through that path. Making people disgusted or ill is (in my mind) an effective way to make fusker useless.

Taking away their advertising (which we have done in the past) also helps. Remove the financial incentive to run a fusker site, and many of them just go away.

Thanks for the help. I'd never heard of Tubgirl before. I've just done a Google search - an interesting experience and it took my mind right off fuskering!

I get fuskered all of the time and it always puts a smile on my face. All they say is a small image telling them where to find free porn. You'd think the fools would blacklist me.

I'm with UW, I use an ad telling them where to find the images they were looking for. For a hotlink image, I think I'd rather have my ad displayed and possibly generate some type-ins. Also, I have been guilty of fucking up recips on one of my freesites, leaving the wrong domain as the path to buttons, which caused my ads to be displayed on that freesite I subbed instead of the relevant LLs buttons.

Now, if I'd subbed that to a reviewer with those buttons in his cache, and the site got listed (which was actually the case with this particular freesite, another reviewer spotted it and let me know) and his surfers were treated to tubgirl, well, he'd have lost any bookmarkers who saw that sight PDQ as far as I'd have thought. If he then went back to my page and saw that image after a cache clear, then I'm pretty sure I'd have been blacklisted, and I couldn't have blamed them one little bit.

It of course was entirely my mistake, but, as a human (sorta) I'm prone to making them every now and then, which is why I also use a very non-agressive 404 page which just redirects to my root, as well as that text ad as my hotlink image.

Jel, I use to do that - but even a small image linked thousands of times over and over didn't give me the desired result. Very few people bother typing another URL, so the value was small - compared to the bandwidth being used.

tubgirl isn't my 404 - tubgirl is my fusker girl.

I do not recommend anyone use that sort of image for a 404.

Yeah I hear you there Alex, I'm one of those that clutches at straws lol - that one person who may type in the url may buy a trial and may bring me a sale :D I don't do *too* terribly with type-ins, although it's hard to gauge exactly how many I get with awstats, my ad is one that lists all niches and blabs on, so *might* entice someone to type in, I dunno.

Gotcha on the 404/fusker girl, was mainly saying that an aggressive 404 on say freesite domains when making a gebuine mistake would get a person BLd quicker than a 404 to the freesite root, or a persons hub/LL etc. I'm talking about a mainpage that has a typo and is a character out linking to a gallery or some such, not people taking down sites altogether and 404ing to their said hub. I know you are much more experienced than I, my post was for any newer webmasters who may not have foreseen the scenario I went through. I'm not even sure why the hell I brought 404 up, I tend to make my points hard to understand, no wonder my sales suck lol

All that said, I'm still confused (not hard) - fusker hotlinks and doesn't redirect, correct? So I assume hotlinking is the problem, in which case if you wanted to fuck fu*ker and the people who use it, you can specify tubgirl as your hotlink image for them only, and use a less shocking pic for your normal hotlink in case you make the same mistake I did I believe. No idea what the command would be, but I've no doubt someone here can let you know it japamor :)

I used to get fuskered often too.. then a pure genius aka Sparky redid my .htaccess file now I am not able to post a pic from that domain but it's ok so.. God bless Sparky :)

Jel, you are correct - fusker loads all your full size pictures into a single page. People surf, open the page, and 30 images (or however many they find) open all at once. No banners, no links, no way to get surfers actually to your site. If they took ONE picture and provided a link for the rest, I might tolerate it (sort of like a glorified picpost), but instead they strip off everything except the images and the surfer gets that.

So, using some basic tools, you can filter them out and make sure they get tubgirl instead of the hot pR0n they were looking for.

People who are willing to go that far looking for free pictures are NOT likely buyers. Fuck'em.
