smut gremlins recip problem...

hey -
Ive had the time to submit freesites again, so ive put together some new recips tables.

I got the code for the new smut gremlins recip for the pornstar category but when I insert it the height appears about doubled. maybe because I'm on a mac Im having this problem, but when the code is displayed on smut gremlins site it looks fine..

any suggestions?

used to have this problem with some LL's recips.
Tables looks messy on Dreamweaver but when you save it and check it in a browser IE/FF it is ok

In Firefox, Smut Gremlins recips do not look as intended - middle part of recip consists of two lines while in IE it's one line of marquee text only.

Some other recips also are different eg http://freepicssex.com/ recips are also bigger in FF.

Other point - recips which use colored table borders do not look the same in FF and IE.

I guess it would be good for every TGP/LL owner to look at their text recips in FF.

I have surfers not webmasters on all but one of my sites. Across all of my site 90+% use IE. So why should I care about FF?

If you feel the need to fix a recip by all means do so. :D

Just a reminder note from me, just trying to help. It's not a rule anyone should care what 10% of surfers see.

Interesting - my logs show an 18% use of FF or Mozilla the past month (maybe 16% allowing for my own accesses on the logs).

Guess it comes down to what percentage of potential sales one is willing to forgo. But the numerical trend is certainly away from IE even if it is still used by the majority.

I can think of only one good reason. If something is displaying improperly in Firefox, it's almost always coded incorrectly. There are some CSS elements that are anitquated that work in IE, but not FF, but they usually won't have any significant effect on appearance. If webmasters are happy with coding incorrectly, good for them. But they can't blame those of us who would like to see things coded correctly so it won't fuck up our own pages.

Alot of LLs use instead of CSS. One advantage is is lighter than CSS without a CSS file. The obvious disadvantage is when a page uses CSS it screws up all the recips coded using fonts.

It's time to overthrow the font tags recips and check everything in FF instead of IE :D

My only beef with Smutgremlin recips is the tags overlap (e.g. ).

Cleo 2005-10-12 09:29 AM

Her recip has the tags out of order. This doesn't seem to affect how it is displayed but could cause a bot to chock on your page which I guess might hurt how your stuff is indexed, not really sure.

I see this often in recips. Javes is another one both with the tags out of order and font tags outside of the so the founts end up defaulted.

All you nit pickers enjoy. I make good money coding by hand. Since I am human and I have a limited time (24 hours) in a day I sometimes make mistakes.

ponygirl 2005-10-12 09:49 AM

I like FF, and NN is my main browser. I think many surfers use IE just because it's there & we'll see more people turning to others as they find their own preferences. I do check everything in 2 or 3 different browsers to see what it looks like tho.

I don't mind fixing recips - I credit those with messed up recips for teaching me html. I wouldn't understand how it works half as well if I didn't have to study the code to see why it was screwing up :D

I'm convinced that there are less than 24 hours per day, but that's a discussion for my therapist.

I don't think it's being nit-picky to expect things to be done correctly. Besides, you know the old saying, "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach". Just call me Professor Useless. :D

FF is coming on strong if Im correct they have already surpassed netscape - I use it myself - i know if my site is compatable with FF it is compatable with everyone :)

Useless 2005-10-13 01:40 PM

So does anyone have a fix so that damned marquee can be brought down to one line in Firefox?

EDIT: - Nevermind, it's the useless

in the marquee line of code that's causing the double height issue.
