Anyone Ever Play D&D?

If you've ever played D&D and maybe even if you haven't, you might find this amusing... :D

Yeah, I get that feeling on occasion myself. Life just tends to get in the way, and 5 or 6 people with the same 8 hour window to game just doesn't happen with us adults that often :)

Ain't that the truth! I can still hear my Dad's words echo in my head: "Son...remember all this free time you've squandered - when you get older, you'll be yearning for it back."

:(

Yeah, I guess that's the truth of the matter. I just forget sometimes I'm supposed to be an adult now. :D

It seems like just yesterday I was hanging out at Ramones' concerts and playing in a band of my own...:)

Jeesh, I'm suddenly feeling old, LOL!

I remember my step-son playing it when he was a teenager - although I couldnt say much about wasting time LOL as I was hooked on Adventure games - the first text based computer games to come out written by a friend

Wow! Text based games are something I haven't thought about in a long while.

I remember playing Zork and some other text games. I also used to play LORD (Legend of the Red Dragon) on the local BBS back before the Internet took over...:)

Linkster 2005-10-15 06:33 PM

Hah hah - I had LORD and quite a few other games on my BBS - still have the original disks as a matter of fact - but loved playing that one. The Zork series was fantastic - especially the old text ones - but when the old games for the TRS and Vic20 came out those rocked

Smutferret 2005-10-15 06:42 PM

LOL! My bbs was called Xorb and ran on RA. I still have everything zipped up someware...:)

if you have a browser with java, http://www.runescape.com/ is something my nephew plays from time to time. Rather interesting game -- I estimate they make about $5 million/month on their $5 monthly memberships.

I also played some LORD and I had a bbs on PCBoard. Those were the days! You can actually use telnet to enter your old bbsīs if you set them up! I tried that with my old bbs and told some friends about it, but it was like 2000 i tried that. If you want to put your board back online you need netfoss and then itīs ready to go on telnet! |thumb

LOL - I ran Wildcat on a 2 line mega BBS called The Post - can even remember having to buy one of those 6 CD changers for all the d/l files - and then becoming the lead node for the different networks like Fido etc - till a friend bought the planet satellite and he took over (thank goodness)

I remember tossing mail using an old open source program called Binkley that I had to rewrite to work with my stuff - just looked back and saw all the different doors I had and a brand new disk full of IGMs for LORD I never got around to installing :)

It was fun and good times and I met a lot of great people but it's in the past for me.

I did use telnet to access some bbs's in the early 2000's, even entered an online LORD tournament...:)

Looks interesting...I'll have to take a closer look at it when I have some time, maybe tomorrow...:)

Ah yeah good old D&D! We find the same thing now that our old circle is all adults. Time. Poker works out alot better these days. Here is another online game that has a D&D feel with a chess like strategy factor. Very cool actually.
