Video Editing/Optimizing on a Mac - what do you use?

Hey all,

What's the best software for Mac OS X for optimizing video clips. All I have now is iMovie and I can't get the files small and still looking good. They get small but look like total crap.

What do you guys use or recommend?

Thanks,

Bill Tracy

You want to put them up as mpeg-1 (mpg) files which iMovie does not do. Export them from iMovie as full resolution which will give you a huge many gig movie that will be either a .dv or .mov depending on what version of iMovie you have and if it is HD or not.

Then use this to make you .mpg. It also does the copyright image on the movie.

Not sure what you're asking Tommy, but if you're looking to transfer DVD files to your hard drive, try dvd decryptor or DVD shrink. If you're looking to encode the DVD files to a portable ~1 gig file, try DivX or XviD.

I use MacTheRipper and it's free. The evil Macrovison people keep on shutting down their site but I see the download page is now going to a board where you can download it from.

Also if you want a commercial solution that will also shrink down a DVD movie to something that will fit on a DVD that you can burn Popcorn does this as well.
