Anyone Tried The Link List Script TurboSeek?

I've spent the last 6 weeks installing, customizing and filling a link list script that now appears to be abandoned by its owner. Wouldn't be so bad but the functionality to re-check links does not work. [Didn't do my homework!] Has anyone tried TurboSeek? ? It's Perl and shareware so I can try it before I buy it. I am interested in knowing if it does all it says it can do. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Cheers,

Thanks for the info! Turns out that the Cron job worked tonight for some reason and I got my link checking report this AM. It even had the broken link on it I made for the test. Not sure why but the installed program appears to be working now. Guess I will give it a couple more days for the owner to surface before I make a decision. There are always free sites to be built in the mean time.

TurboSeek is part mysql and part flat database...its good, but it if you intend to run a busy directory, then go for it. The PowerSeek is the one I am about to use, but this one is mainstream level for extremely busy and LARGE directories.

It really depends on what you intend to use a script for....not all scripts are best suited for certain sites with certain demands while others are...confusing I know. Whatever script you intend to use, be prepared to stick with it and don't get in the problem of having to switch over to a different one when you already have a database built up....its a mess to do a switch. ....trust me, I'm in that situation at the moment...

I'm running Turboseek on the linklists in my sig.

I've been very happy with it apart from the fact that you can't order your links randomly or by the date submitted. So the submitters sites tend to get buried once your cats get bigger. For this reason alone, I'll be changing scripts over the next month or so.

If powerseek had the option to list randomly or date submitted, I'd upgrade to that.

It's really easy to work with though :)

Lisa.
