Q for linklist owners re: a rotation script I'm workin' on

Hi folks, I have a question regarding an ad rotation script I'm working on, and whether the implementation I'm planning will be accepted at your link lists.

On the index page of the site, beneath the enter link, I will have two links to niche-specific free sites (my own). The actual link will lead to the rotation script, which will pull a random, niche-specific FPA (or an alternative product FPA) with a link at the bottom to the free site. (I hope I explained that well.)

Most likely I would want to use mouseover text to set the status bar to indicate the destination free site, as opposed to "rotation.php?site=blahblahblah&link=blahblahblah" etc. So it would technically be a blind link, but would it be a rule-breaker?

Again, if it makes a difference, the FPA will NOT be between the index page and the content of that particular site. It will only appear if the surfer chooses one of the alternate links beneath the enter link.

Sorry for being so long-winded, and thanks in advance for your comments!

Hi Mishi :)
I wouldnt have a problem with it - but for those that might - it is a possibility that you could really have them go to your site that has the ad rotation on it - and just do a quick redirect once they are there to a page with the rotator script on it
Of course in the back of my mind I have to think that taking them to your site would be an excellent opportunity to filter them a little - and when they click on a specific niche - then pop them into whatever niche ad rotator you have set up :) This would allow you to have the rotator return the niche specific FPAs for you - and of course since you have them on your page once they leave the free site we have listed - if they try to exit you can always send them off to a toplist or something - its your traffic at that point :)

I thought about this initially, but I thought it might be even less acceptable than going to a dynamic page that at least retains a static address...if that makes sense, lol.

Filtering is precisely what I'm attempting to do...but you've put some ideas in my head (dammit!)...What this script will do is filter them through an FPA before they reach the site...which will have additional niche links to additional FPAs...

I shall wait for further input, and keep my mind rolling on this one in the mean time.

Thanks!

for my part, I count those sort of links 2 for 1 in my banner / sponsor link per page thing. You can have two of them in place of a banner.

Rotating the text might run you into some problems. I see those some times, and I get a little worried that I am not able to review the site completely, because the page keep changing. If you are going to do something like this, keep the layout and appearance of the text the same in all cases, and don't change from list to table to 3 across to 3 down etc - all of the text should look the same every time I load the site.

You might also have issues if one of your sponsors isn't welcomed by one or more of the link sites. They can pull ALL your sites on that, which you don't want.

If the destinations pages are on another domain, I don't really care what is on them as long as it isn't illegal or linking to a banned sponsor. Providing the text links isn't so blind as to cause confusion.

Hmm, I guess I don't really have a problem with this.
As long as the actual link on the index page (which I link to) doesn't change.
If it says "More Free Niche Page Here" when I review. On the second pass, it better say "More Free Niche Page Here" with the same URL. (yeah, it may be .../php??category34) or whatever I don't have a problem with that.

Does this make any sense? LOL

I don't think that I would have a problem with this, but I would really like to see an example.

With me you get 3 links per page not counting recips and one counter. I usually don't care what you link to as long as the surfer gets what they expect.

Thanks folks!

From what you all have said, I don't think I'll have any problems. I'll post an example once I get things up and running. As usual for me, this was supposed to be a simple script, but once I started playing with it I thought of a million and one other things I'd like for it to do...

Cheers and happy Monday!
