Woohoo! What were those things going to cost? Like $60?

Jim 2005-11-01 01:32 PM

Great News
Things like us getting screwed by the Govt always seem to work out.

2msacras 2005-11-01 02:37 PM

I'm not used to good news

SirMoby 2005-11-01 02:49 PM

That is good news for a change.

"U.S. lawmakers are urging the Bush administration to resist a push from other countries to shift control of the Internet to the United Nations, arguing that such a move would stifle innovation and free expression."

LMFAO. That's right folks, keep control of the internet right here where fascism is on the rise and soon all laws will be voted on by church leaders and no one else.

At least it's good news on .xxx :)

Never happen. Companies like Exxon, Walmart and Haliburton have been the real policy makers the past 5 years. The church leaders are just the pawns used to help control the voters.

You are right about fascism on the rise.

"ICANN agreed to suspend work on a proposed .xxx domain name for sex sites after the Bush administration objected in August."

When I read that in August I knew the xxx domains were down the tubes. |bananna|

kalle7 2005-11-01 06:03 PM

Yeah, that is great news |thumb Was worried about how much money I would have to spend on those suckers.

sfera 2005-11-01 06:47 PM

You can add the newest entry to that field - Gilead Sciences, Inc :)

Good news on XXX - that was the next step towards moving the US adult business into a small ghetto that could easily have a fence around it and require major hoop jumping to visit.

Free speech isn't free speech if you put a wall in the way.

Glad someone figured it out before we had to deal with that stupidity too.

Alex

2msacras 2005-11-02 11:25 AM

Alex, I think you worded that really well.

Linkster 2005-11-02 02:16 PM

Actually - I was kinda hoping for it LOL - would have made it legitimate in a legal sense - but then Im sure thats exactly why the Bushites didnt support it - that and they knew there was no way to take away the .com versions :)

That why I was kinda hoping this "porn tax" that the idiot in Kansas or whatever put out would actually get enacted - again - makes the biz legitimate legally
But then after I listened to here she was talking about adding a higher tax to Playboy on the newstand - and nothing to do with internet taxing anyway

GenXer 2005-11-02 04:11 PM

I'm really glad to hear about the .xxx is over. I agree with everything RawAlex says about it, that is exactly how I feel. Well put, Alex.
