We don't make any money... boo

FUCKING HOOO!!!!

Talk about annoying, it never ceases to amaze me how retial companies (Wal-Mart aside), don't reach their fucking sales goals qrtr after qrtr... Perhaps the fact that they never have shit in stock is the main reason why!

Hear me Roar!

I decided I was going to head to the local furniture store today so I could buy some additional furniture for a few rooms, I planned on buying 2 oversized recliners, a nice end table to put between them, and a new kitchen set as well.

I wasnt positive on the kitchen set, but the chairs were a shoe in, I figured I would walk into "Rooms TO GO" thats right TO GO meaning buy it, and take it. Nope out of the 3 different recliners I picked NOT 1 OF THEM WERE IN STOCK!!!! WTF!!! No biggy I go down the street to "Kanes Furniture" now keep in mind they never mention anything about "TO GO", which is a good thing, because out of the massive recliner selection they had, NOT 1 OF THE 2 I PICKED OUT WERE IN STOCK!!!! So you figure thats it right? Nope I decide fuck it Ill go to the place I saw the kitchen set that I liked, place called "BadCOCK" with COCK in the name AI should have known better because the bitch that worked there was surely a cock, and you guessed it, Kitchen Set = OUT OF FUCKING STOCK!

Imagine any of them were in stock, would have added to the bottom line, but now instead (b ecause im an asshole that hates companies that are out of stock), Ill probably just buy my shit online from any company OTHER than theirs. Pathetic...

So I got pissed off and bought a new TV from Circuit City & TIVO :) Which is currently setting up it's channel info, no more annoying VCR tapes, went with the Sony Wega 32" Flat Screen :) I love it, and they had 5 of them if I wanted them all :) Thank god someone was in stock I may have lost my damn mind and choked someone.

COMMON TIVO!!!!

Someday I'm hoping to be able to buy things, too. So with that in mind, I'd better get back to fiddling with the new website.

Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel is not an oncoming train, but a Sony Wega 32" Flat Screen TV. |headbang|

TiVo does kick ass, but I'm told the local cable company will have DVR receivers in the near future - which is much better than cable & TiVo - and soon I'll be just like Jim (which is my ultimate goal in life -LOL)

Linkster 2003-11-24 06:42 AM

If they would ever get cable in my neck of the woods - I might be able to get rid of the VCRs :)

Hey Greenie - in your quest to be just like Jim - let me know if you need a F250 w/the diesel - got a few here taking up driveway space :) well - at least one of them is

I feel your pain, E-John.. nothing is worse. We went to buy a bed and a recliner this weekend. Mattress world, and they were out of the one we wanted but would have it delivered on Dec 2. NO! Finally we found the perfect mattress, at an unclaimed furnture outlet, cash and carry. The recliner was a slam dunk. Lazy-boy has it all and like you, even tho Mattress World also had recliners, i'd never give them a nickle.

i work in Retail, well at HQ, but we are a retail company who preaches having available stock. Our newest and extremely successful program is buy on-line and pick up in our store, no shipping cost. It is also easier for us to manouver as we are a co-op and have to answer to our board and our members, not our stock holders. |shake|

In my opinion, most large corporations are bound by their P&L and don't realize or choose to ignore, that it is driven by their product be it hardgoods or service.

But it's really sad, the economy is picking up, but in most large corporations, manufacturing, wholesale to retail, it's very difficult to ramp up again.

*knock wood*..our business never declined, so we just tightened up our spending at bit and rode it out. and actually the trend to switch from international travel to domestic helped our bottom line as more people bought camping gear, turned to more muscle powered sports etc.

Where do you put the shopping if the weather is bad?

Greenguy 2003-11-24 11:55 AM

That pic is actually from when we 1st got the turck - there's now a cover over the bed.

But, it has the King Cab so there's plenty of room inside the truck - you can put 6 people in there earily :)

I agree Doc, your 100% right, always about the quick peek at the P&L, but if they looked deep at the P&L, all the "Turns" would show them that they are constantly out of fucking stock. 10 Years with Home Depot and most of us Extreme guys will tell you, out of stock is bad business, hurts the real bottom line for sure.

On an update the the Saga though, I went to...... LAZY BOY today, thanks to Jim from Extreme telling me about the place and where it was and I bought their largest recliner (2 of them), fucking amazing still though one of the ones im getting was right on the sales floor, but I couldnt take it with me because the Warehouse Hadnt recieved or processed the order, and they wouldnt until Wed. between 10-4 at which point I can pick them up. By far the dumbest ass thing I have ever heard, buisness amazes me I tell you.

Hey GG, our cable company has the DVR boxes already, but I wanted all the features of Tivo, and man lemme tell you, I LOVE THIS LITTLE FUCKER!!! I would mary the bitch if it would put out, woooo hooo, I already want another one for my bedroom :) Hehehe I have like 29 shows scheduled to tape, 1/2 of which Ill probably never watch. Either way knowing I have the power is enough for me. |bananna|

*letter to Lazy-boy*.. You owe me a commission!!!!

LMAO..

yeah, i don't understand that either, EJ, putting something on the floor before it's received??? WTF..

Hey i used to work with Bobby Nardelli at GE Power Systems in Atlanta when he was VP of Marketing, before he became CEO of HomeDepot.

Now that is a classic case of taking a company public and going right down the tubes because of the shareholders..

Pulease.. maybe that's what is happening to Google, they are getting ready for their Prom with Wall Street and don't want future investors putting in the term XXX and seeing Link-o-rama as the 1st entry..

Did you see the website nailing the number one spot for XXX? It only has 196,000 backlinks. Even MrMaryLou couldn't work that hard. |jester|

Hahah sorry Doc, would love to have Laze send you commission but I bought it before I saw your message :) Awe fuck'em make'em pay.

As for Bob, it's amazing how one person could single handedly destroy the #1 Home Improvment Retailer in the world in less than a year, glad I got the fuck out before dumb ass got on board, some of my freinds were'nt as lucky they had to deal with his pathetic "SAVE MONEY" philosophy. He's a dick wad, the stock crusher.

Greenguy 2003-11-25 08:04 AM

I wonder if your DVR boxes are different than the ones Jim has (which is what I'll be getting) Jim can comment, but I don't think there's anything you can do with TiVo that you can't do with the DVR boxes (except for all the fancy graphics & TiVo ads & movie trailers - LOL)

docholly 2003-11-25 09:19 AM

Ours was supposed to be delivered today.. but they showed up YESTERDAY.. go figure.. luckily someone was here to accept it.. and they were "kind" enough to put it in the house, not leave it on the porch. grrrrrr...

as to Bob: Obviously he's trying to prove that Welch made an error in choosing Jeffrey Inmelt over him.. and now with all the Separate "niche" stores HD is spinning, Bob is trying to make HD the GE of Retail. well at least the stock is back up to 35. it was 39 when he took over, jump to a high i think of 53 and fell to 23. 3 of his new directors he took from GE.

In my opinion, having a consistant customer experience is important, whether it's in Paducha, Peoria or Puyallup. We all laugh at Wally World, but one thing you can say for them, each time you go there you know the store is going to be crowded, you know you'll be able to find 1 or 10 packs of Boxers, and their cashiers graduated from the Micky D's school of Customer service.

Consistency!! |jackinthe

as far as the commission, maybe i could just tell lazy boy to apply it towards their training efforts, like scheduling and receiving.

LMAO.. |santa|
