XBiz awards continue their tradition

As usual it seems the judging process has picked out the same BS as usual and gone with the "surfers community" popularity contest as their guidance. Amazing that the same person can win graphic design co 5 years in a row and that the up and coming affiliate program is one of the leaders out there that has been around forever :)
But then what else would be expected?

Mefo 2005-11-18 08:33 AM

yeah, the Xbiz awards are definetly a total joke... probably just the one who pays the most wins

Righteous 2005-11-18 08:38 AM

Yeah, it kinda sucks to be around for years and get the up-and-comming. How do you promo that. Maybe they should have had the Best New Program and limited it to programs that opened in the last year.

Jim 2005-11-18 08:41 AM

I noticed the "Best Businessman"
Is this the same Joe Lensman that won't send a check because he wants to get to know the webmasters by signing their checks? Even if that means, checks go out late. Even over a month late.

Surfn 2005-11-18 08:42 AM

It's all rigged :(

Ramster 2005-11-18 08:49 AM

Sunny Dollars is good and all but Up And Coming? Is it upandcoming for the new mellenium since the year 2000? LOL

GFY has it's place but has anyone looked lately? I can't believe ALL the surfers there now. Even some of the old time webmasters are posting links to galleries now. :D

Greenguy 2005-11-18 10:02 AM

It's just an honor to be nominated. |thumb

Up & Coming Affiliate Program
Sunny Dollars is a really good program & while I was there yesterday grabbing my new link code, I read this:

"Since 1999, Sunny Dollars has been bringing you quality site after quality site...."

Based on this, Rage Cash will win this very award in 2011 |thumb

Businesswoman of the Year
Slow down! What did Jenna Jameson do for the online community this past year? Moved to an established affiliate program because the one she ran sucked balls? Ripped off a site or 2?

I can see Lensman winning the Businessman of the Year award - who wouldn't want that Playboy deal?

This is more moronic than the Sunny Dollars thing.

Greenguy 2005-11-18 10:11 AM

I guess I did win something last night:

I have to say that listening to you & Jim go back and forth on your predictions was a helluva lot more fun than the actual awards - and seeing the results is interesting too, you guys picked pretty good considering. lol

GG&J should replace Joan&Melissa at all the awards shows... it certainly would be a heck of a lot more fun for the viewers!

We were up for that one...must have felt like how when Metallica lost the Grammy to Jethro Tull back in '89.

Jim 2005-11-22 04:48 PM

I do think the judging process should be removed. Letting the webmasters judge with votes would work much better.

But remember Jay, it was the webmasters that nominated you. Isn't that what really counts? Perhaps a judge or 2 didn't like you...who knows?

biftek 2005-11-22 06:14 PM

meh everyone knows that there's award ceromony things are all based on who does the most ass kissing

th3g4me 2005-11-23 03:41 AM

I do not understand how GFY can win for the board.

The only thing good they have is posted in the newbie forum by people who want you to buy their gallery submission software, hosting, and yes even traffic. They help more than any one when you have a question, or wana talk about something business related.

You can have 5,000++ posts and still have no one know who you are.

The only thing it is good for is finding out how many surfers would "hit it".

*sigh*

Ahh, I was just joking...I am glad people like www.occash.com. It's just funny becasue I've been promoting Sunny Dollars for like 5 years. Just got a big yellow check from them today! :)

I dont really want to comment on this one, BUT! up and coming award should goto a program that launched that year... than based on achievement + innovating ideas and not based on who's been buying advertising spots

Lensman business man of the year, I agree with GreenGuy on the playboy deal

Greenguy 2005-11-24 09:24 PM

Like I said, Sunny Dollars is a great program....that's been around for 6 years :D

Fetishlady 2005-11-25 12:01 PM

i don't agree with the result on Best WEbmaster community..i think there are lots of surfers down there.

AcidMaX 2005-11-28 08:23 AM

It's all a sham. I do all the programming work for RandyBlue.com and have for 4 years or so. We won the CyberSocket award last year and we were not even nominated for the best Gay site on the net. The site just flat out kills all the others. I have not put any stake in the XBiz awards, I think they need to revamp their system.

You can't really blame XBiz because not enough webmaster's nominated the program.

MUAH!!!

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. I want to pass along something that was told to me that may help clear up the "Up and Coming" award. This catagory was for programs that really made a mark this past year. Sunny Dollars has been around since 1999 but, we have kinda been under the radar. We broke out this year and have been trying to be everywhere. Perhaps a better name for the catagory would be "Best Breakout Company"

We did have some awesome competition in our catagory and I was very surprised that we beat out so many other fine programs.

Surfn 2005-12-05 02:25 PM

Hi HoneLynn, will I see you at one of the parties in Vegas again this year?

HoneLynn 2005-12-05 02:30 PM

Actually, the January Vegas show is one we will not be at. :( But, we will be at the Costa Rica bash in February and at the Phoenix Forum in March.

That statement is true only to ignorant webmasters :D

I've been with Sunny Dollars for a LONG time & have always made a very good amount of money with the program. Sure, you guys did a lot this year, but in my eyes, it's nothing different from any other year. |headbang|
