Need Opinions
OK bloggers, got a question for ya. I've got an undernourished TGP called the Daily Wanker, and it occured to me today that "Daily Wanker" isn't a bad name at all for a blog. So, I'm considering adding a blog at the root and leaving the TGP in the same subdirectory.
What's your recommended minimum update frequency for a porn blog? Is it worth bothering if I can only post new articles a couple times a week? TIA |
With a name like "Daily Wanker" people are going to expect daily updates LOL
|
Max..
with some blog scripts you can make advanced *or retrofitted* posts.. this way you could go in 1 day a week..make all your posts and save them.. then all you'd have to do is go in daily and hit publish.. without having to write them. i agree with the name "daily" they'd expect an update all the time. |
All good advice but I think you could do nicely with 3-4 udates a week.

Personaly I wouldnt mix TGP traffic with blog traffic at all. I would buy a brand new domain and hosting for your new blog so that TGP surfers cant go inside your blog. But that is only my opinion!

You had to know that if you put "opinion" in the thread title that I'd have to post. |waves|
Firstly, I think the name is friggin' wunderbar. Secondly, I have no way of knowing how often a blog surfer returns to each blog he/she reads, but I'm betting that you could get away with updating less than daily. Thirdly, if you feel that the site isn't meeting its potential as a TGP, I don't think that dropping a blog on it would hurt. Seems like it could only help. You might lead some of those "reading types" to the galleries and you might teach some of the free-loading porn surfers how to read. Fourthly, what the fuck happened to Boogie? Didn't he used to live here? |

My point was why give surfer that came form SE free porn :) better to have blog and some nice text and a few images to make him thirsty for more so that you can make some sales of the blog. If I am surfer and I see your blog and after that you send me to TGP why I should buy $30/month membership when I found porn haven :)
But that is just my opinion and I thing that TGP traffic shouldn't be mixed with blog traffic as for me blog traffic is more productive! cheers, ultrasKING |
if you use wordpress you can do all your entrys in one day and edit the time stamps so they auto post every day of the week, not sure on the other blog scripts avial as wordpress is all ive used.

Cool, thanks for all the advice everyone. I'm going to look at some scripts and see what's out there, then figure out what the hell to do :)
|
I think it would be a great idea, but only if you keep up with the posting. Seems so many people get tired of posting and blogs die out. Theory should be the more often you post, the more often surfers would come back. Also if you use RSS aggregators, the more you post, the more traffic you would get from these sources. Blog traffic could be good for a tgp, should be better quality traffic which could help your productivity if you trade.

Well put, ronnie. I understand so little about the background workings of blogs, it's nuts. (even less than I understand about link lists ;)) I need to take the time and learn more about RSS and pinging and all those foreign terms you bloggers use. Then, I will take over the internet.

WordPress is one of the best if you need blogging script, and yes you can make 30 posts in one day and schedule them so that each day one is published so that you can work one day and next 30 days you dont have to :)

I have to agree....even though I really do like bblog....if I were to start all over again, I would probably go with WordPress. Tons of relevant plugins and since it seems to be the blog platform of choice for adult bloggers, lots of intellegent help on the boards.
Damn, I hate being agreeable this early in the morning! |
I did sort of what you just did, I moved a tgp from the root to a main.shtml, put a blog on a /blog directory and put up a warning page with links to both. It seems to be working out okay so far, pretty low traffic but I just started it.
As far as updating goes (and I use Serendipity script) I wake up every Sunday morning and spend just over an hour or so updating 3 blogs for the week. Once you get into a rythm it's pretty easy. Plus to save time, I reuse old posts that made sales after a few or a couple of months and just edit the text a little. |
I have a blog in subdirectory of a domain and a tgp in another and I also have them both accessible from the root of the domain. I leave it all open and transparent and it seems to work well. Though I did not add a link to the blog from the tgp....yet.

On second thought though a tgp surfer when presented with his niche of choice just may be a good visitor for your blog if they are looking to expand thier experience. And being blogs may encourage a sale a bit more as they rouse less suspicion of the popup hell and virus rap that porn sites get sometimes. Just a thought.
