Are they blogs?

Why does it seem like lately I have been seeing blogs that have little posts. Either people asking to trade links ot submitting to my links lists. Had two the other day, had 3-4 posts on the entire "blog", and they were back in august! One submitted today, lucky if there was a post each month, not even one for november at all. I guess people think they make a couple posts and they are done, they have a blog. Hope it's not going to be like free sites, submit and forget.

What does every one else consider a blog, or minimum posts per month? To me, at least min a couple posts a week, think every other day is a commitment.

You're more kind than I am LOL I post at least one paragraph every day...paragraph, not a sentence underneath a thumb. OK, some days I forget the thumb, some days I get on a kick and put up a 1,000 word mini-essay LOL but most days I just ramble along in my usual way. I think the main thung that makes a blog a blog is: Does it have a personality? Does it sound like a real person is talking to you? I think that is what the blog readers are looking for.

To me, it's not a blog until it has around 20-30 posts. Until then it's just somebody playing around with some blogging software. Also anything less than 2-3 posts a week becomes really iffy. Finally, it's got to have something interesting to read other than "insert penis here" type comments. It can not rely on just pictures to be interesting.

I think however many posts a blogger has something to say. i`ve never been one to try and impose my standards on others aside from basic ones. I think one a week would be a good minimum to shoot for with the every day posting being a full on blog. But I myself have been guilty of neglecting my own for more than that. But I don`t want to post if I have nothing of value to say or as opposed to posting just thumbs and hit my sponsor please. And I already have a million other things I attend to every day which involve people other than myself. Now does that make me iffy? Does that make me inferior or undesireable? That`s just how I see these type of views. I mean barring cheating and stuff like that what does it matter. If surfers don`t like it they go elsewhere. If another blog owner does`nt like it don`t trade with them. And the world goes on. And I can respect the view of a list owner in wanting a minimum standard. But then again minimum standards got us a net full of free porn where once there were mostly banners and ads.

I lauch the blog when it has 10 posts and I've prepared the 10 to come, but it seems many realize what work it is to update daily and quit by the 10th post ...

Blogs are like any other endevour in the adult business: If you are not willing to put the effort into them on a daily or near daily basis, they will lose their freshness, lose their traffic, and wither on the vine.

I have a number of blogs and blog like things out there, and I have to make an effort to post at least a little something in them every few days to keep them fresh. Sometimes I don't have much to say, but I work to try to come up with something.

There are endless "blog" things out there with 3 posts and nothing else. People spent more time trying to trade links than to actually develop a product.

Does it make you iffy, yes. Does it make you inferior or undesireable, no. If you have so much currently on your plate that you can't spend 30 minutes twice a week updating a blog, then how long before life further gets in your way and the blog becomes a good intention that you think about but never quite find time to spend time on.

Well said, sounds like a true blogger. Now if I may, a blog is like any other site, it needs content and how often you update is important for many reasons. I try and always post once a day or more. |santa|

I have my own thoughts in mind when I look at trades or submits for other blogs, I was curious what others thought, and if they saw the same thing. Course this business there are always gojng to be those only doing a little work to get alot of traffic. Ana has it right if you ask me, there should be some effort in it. I guess I should'nt be surprized, people taking the easy track, see it every day.

As Rawalex said, there sure needs to be some effort or they will die off. But it's a shame when people treat them like a few pages they put up and thats it.

Good comment jds, that sure seems to be the case.

Seems to me I will need to spend time checking my blog submits and trades, making sure they are updating.

To me, it's not a blog unless the author posts entries for reading. Something real. I reject the blogs that contain nothing more than pictures and ad copy.

I agree, just saying seems some think a few posts and they have a blog. Wonder if others were seeing the same thing. Actually might be inertesting, say in a year, how many of the current blogs will still be around or even posted to any more.

Another thing is: blogs that update too often.
I had a couple of blogs in my aggregator that appeared several times a day in my list. They did update their blogs with a interval of 3 hours. It seems that there is some spammy blog software on the market.
